From my point of view, merging is so "simple" compared to coordination
that I don't really think I deserve much credit for it ☺

On the main news page, it looks weird to me, but let it be so.

Anyway for most questions it just ensures I just comforts me in the idea
that my translations are correct. :)

Oh, yeah… Like the gradient mesh, which is already in Inkscape 0.92.

OK, it’s much clearer now! :)

Oh, yeah. The ‘top-down’ expression was foreign to me.

- No animals, just things I choose to work on because I find them
interesting and/or really important for the project.

- It's this:
https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-centerline-trace/blob/master/README.md

Just that it's currently still only accessible as that Inkscape
extension, but is planned to be included into Inkscape as a real part of
the trace dialog. The autotrace libraries are there already in the
Inkscape source, but not used.

- It's more 'CI for translation files'. So automatical updating of pot
and po files without requiring a dev to run the update script and commit
them.

> (3) ‘Tav has made it possible to wrap a one-line text object with an
> adjustable handle.’ Can you explain what it consists in?

- I haven't seen it yet, it's still in a separate branch that Tav is
working on. As I understand that sentence, it means that you click, type
your text, and then can use a handle to change its width and height and
it will reflow into the changed shape.

- Conversion from SVG2 text to SVG 1.1 text and the other way around.

The Inkscape development version supports some of the features that will
(hopefully) be in SVG2 already, even though the SVG2 standard is not
officially released yet.

Export/compatibility to 1.1 text is needed because other renderers may
not be able to read SVG2 text properly (yet). Fortunately, having that
compatibility can be achieved by just having the SVG2 text specifics
wrapped around the SVG 1.1 text, and each version will ignore the
specifics for the other version.

> (5) ‘Thomas Holder (…) fixed remaining bugs for the y-axis desktop
> coordinate to match a top-down coordinate system (…).’ Can you explain?

- Origin in Inkscape is now in left upper corner, as it always was in
browsers, CSS, HTML, game development and most other digital imagery
applications (and in SVG). Before the merge, it was in bottom left
corner. Thomas fixed issues with 3D boxes and paint bucket, among other
things.

OK — :). Does the ‘pet projects’ expression refer to animals or to
anything you would manage?

I’ve got some questions about the content of the article.

(1) What is ‘centerline tracing’? Is it vectorizing a line which is at
the center?

(2) What are ‘CI translations’? Are these the translations continuous
integration features?

(3) ‘Tav has made it possible to wrap a one-line text object with an
adjustable handle.’ Can you explain what it consists in?

(4) ‘[Tav] also worked on converting SVG 2 text to SVG 1.1 text for SVG

I don’t understand this either…

(5) ‘Thomas Holder (…) fixed remaining bugs for the y-axis desktop
coordinate to match a top-down coordinate system (…).’ Can you explain?

(6) What is the ‘Vibe’ (at the bottom)?

- Yes, I think the heading can be removed. I find the text looks a bit
better when it's not on the right of the photo, it seems more readable
to me.

- Actually, that was one of the fixes to the article I made - previously
it said exactly that. However, the other position is shared between Marc
(for merging) and Patrick (for announcing new versions to translators
and CI and merging) - at least to my understanding, and I only jump in
when I see there's a need, or when there's something I really want to
do. I really feel responsible only for website translations
coordination, for translating the program/website to German, and for any
pet projects I start.

Hi,

Is it wanted that the summary on the main news page included the
heading and the photo at 100%-width? I removed the heading and ordered
the photo to resize.

It says that you Maren are the coordinator for the ‘website translation
team’. Shouldn’t this be only ‘translation team’? I don’t think we have
to refer to the team which is stored in the website database; you are
our coordinator event without it.

Regards,

Sylvain
