Yes. I expect that the license QT is under is NOT the GNU license, but some
other license.

No, 5.15 is still open source. It is just that if you want to keep using that
version *AND* want updates, you will have to pay *for the updates*, as the
only *free* support will be for the 6.x versions. If you can live with the
current 5.x release (5.15.2?) *as is*, you can still use it, just that there
won't be any bugfix or security updates, for free.

Unless you are building an O/S packaging system package (eg .deb or .rpm), you
should *not* install locally build software with the /usr prefix.

No. To use your locally built Qt 5.x, you will need to make sure
/usr/local/ is known to your build environment (path, compiler,
linker, etc.). (Generally, this should normally be set up by default, but it
can't hurt to check.)

Huh? I am running rcc in the directory above. Where the makefile is. Is rcc
doing an effective cd to the dirname of the qrc file? That would be *really*
strange (and most unfriendly...). Is rcc really doing that? Arg!!!

PS: just tested it. Yes it is doing that! Where is rcc documented?

That would be redundant...

[Interest] Strange unexplainable RCC error

2019-05-26 Thread Robert Heller
I am trying to bundle a directory of files generated by Doxygen into a Qt
resource file, but I am getting a strange error from rcc. Here is the
transscript:

I am on a Linux machine (CentOS 6) using Qt 5.6.1 (from the EPel repository):
gollum.deepsoft.com% /usr/lib64/qt5/bin/rcc -v
rcc 5.6.1

rcc has no problem processing other qrc files.

Why us rcc claiming it cannot find a file that all of my FS tools say is
there?
