Funny, but when I search the Sears.ca website, no sign of a Grundig G8.

Doesn't surprise me Walt. Over the years I have found many products listed

[IRCA] CYJM 1330 logged in IL

2009-08-13 Thread Neil Kazaross
Tonite's sunset skip was basically a waste of time as stuff from the NW
didn't come in early enough. But with things being quite quiet I went out
later to check DX and noted CFSL 1190 really nice with C&W with just a
little phasing needed to wipe out WOWO. Hmmm..with things this good to SK
and with these BOGs aimed NW I had to try to see if I could finally (after
endless hours of trying) pull out CJYM.

Without phasing WYHI IN was all over 1330 but with phasing they are gone.
WLOL MN wasn't the big pest as is common and KWLO IA seemed semi dominant
and some of their songs could be called oldies. Anyhow with KWLO into ads
and fading there was other oldies in the mix..and then at

2229:30 CDT fading atop "Classic Hits 1330 CJYM"

This guy is from western SK so it is quite a distance from here. I tried for
the // on 1210 but with 250 w at night I expected nothing and as usual it
was KOKK on these antennas with WPHT phased out.

This Phased BOG System is nothing but 325 ft of wire on the ground across my
eastern field // 185 ft. The set up is very directive across the upper 40%
of the band. Longer is better for lower portions, but it is still effective
noting that this a similar setup is the only way I managed to log CKUA 580
last season.

Re: [IRCA] Thanks So Much, Phil!!!

2009-08-13 Thread Phil Bytheway
You are ALL most welcome it has been a pleasure serving IRCA and it's
members.

I took over as Editor-in-Chief with the 12/19/2003 DXM and was EiC for 170
issues.
However, I have been publishing the "SDXM" (soft-DX Monitor) since 8/29/96
too many issues to count!!!

I am still around running the IRCA Bookstore... but now I will have more time
to DX and perhaps attend DXpeditions!!!

Y'all can best serve IRCA and the DX community by reporting what you hear to
this forum AND the club's editors. This will keep the hobby alive and kicking
for a long time.

Again, thanks to all who supported me during my stint as EiC... I'm certain you
will all support Dan as much (or even more) that me.

I will be attending the IRCA Convention in Albuquerque this year and encourage
all DXers to attend (Sept 18-19).

2009-08-13 Thread John Callarman
Music in English and a lady in Spanish sounds like Los Cuarenta Principales
format ... sort of a Radio Disney pace ... rather than Radio Fiesta, which
plays more traditional Mexican music. XESD, León, Guanajuato, has been heard
here in North Texas with Los 40 Principales ... It's licensed 10,000 day, 100
night ... but 100 night is meaningless in Mexican station reality.
