[IRCA] Arizona DU's for 8-28-09
Listened from 1235-1310 ut and like this last week it was all DU per the loop. More carriers than yesterday and a few on the top part of the band. The noise level was down with no t-storms in Arizona. A very strong carrier on 738 but no audio. The only audio was from 3LO-774. [IRCA] TP for 28Aug09: Ho-hum
As luck would have it, yet another baby overnight. I did get back at 12:30 UTC and had a quick listen before heading to bed for an hour. I wasn't too impressed. Again 1575 and 1566 were well heard, but with a relatively anemic signal. 1566 was stronger than 1575 this time, though. DU enhancement seemed to occur weakly after 12:00 (612, 648, 531 for example). [IRCA] KPAM 860 Update in sgnal
I don't know for sure, if KPAM has boosted to 15 KW at night, but they sure seem to QRM CFPR more at night and KPAM is stronger. It seems odd that it would just be conditions, as I have never noticed that much QRM before and especially night after night. In comparing the different patterns, there does seem to be a bit more signl to the NW. Where they used to drop off sharply South of Tillamook, not they drop off South of Astoria. [IRCA] 1287-2TM Tamworth
I got a real surptise in the mail yesterday: a very nice QSL letter on beautiful 2TM letterhead, signed by Gavin Flanagan, GM. The big surprise was because the original report was from July 9, 2008. I had sent a follow-up in November of last year, but I don't think that made it to Gavin's desk. That is my 209th Trans-Pacific QSL and my 50th from Australia. The fact that it is from a 2 kW. commercial station about 350 km. inland is just icing on the cake. [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 29 Aug 2009
As others have noted, a rather lacklustre morning.
