Some male talk battling with the splash and local noise on 963, at 0615UT, fairly consistent over several minutes. [IRCA] Chihuahua on 830?
Greetings Guys, In the last few weeks I've spent a lot of time on 830 where there's occasionally been some fairly big XE pile-ups. After listening there for more than 3 or 4 hrs total time, I swear I'm hearing a weak station in the pile up that mentions CH frequently. I've not been able to dig out an ID on it yet. I'm wondering if any of you can hear this sta or perhaps know of a CH station operating on that channel? In the last few months I've caught IDs for XELK, XELN, XEITE, XEVQ, and just tonight was XEIK. Any help on this mystery sta would sure be appreciated. Thanks and 73! [IRCA] TAs from the WCNA
First time I've listened in a few weeks in the evening, as we're preparing to move, but I do still have the N and NW directed large diameter loops outside and at 03:25 UTC UTC 27Jan, I'm noting Absolute at fair level on 1215, and weaker audio from Croatia on 1134. I've noticed the SF has climbed recently into the 80s, which presumably is having a deleterious effect on MW TP and TA propagation. SW, though, is sure completely the pits up here in BC with the MUF around 6 or 6.5 MHz in the local evenings. Simply virtually nothing to listen to there at all! [IRCA] OPB on FM
Paul, I just checked and the KOPB tx on the North coast is on 96.3. Way FM is // on 88.7 and 89.7, so we don't need two of them. SS Rel on 90.1 & 90.5, I think HCJB's FM service. Lots of activity on 88-92 here. But still only the 3 AM stations on the North coast. The last "new" AM was in 1968 when KSWB signed on. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin KGED QSL Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

I don't listen to FM often, but in checking the dial today, KAST FM 99.7 also is FSR and KKEE-1230 is //, so when Air American went bye bye they just switched over to the FM format. At least an inexpensive way of doing it.

Paul, Interesting, as OPB has a lp tx here allready (96.5?) Can't remember for sure the frequency, but 89.7 has more power. We don't need a zillion rel stations. This indeed will be welcome. [IRCA] TP for 26 Jan from Victoria, BC
It was a little grim in the TP reception stakes this morning. There seemed to be an awful lot of domestic splash, and not much in the way of signals worth pursuing. Listening was done at 1400UT with checking back every 20 minutes or so. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): none reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 594 JOAK briefly not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker 747 JOIB 774 JOBB Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 828 JOBB per apparent //774 972 likely HLCA 1008, Asiatic direction 1134 seemed to be JOQR, didn't seem //972 or 6125, but 972 was poor also 1287 1503 1575 Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 666, 1377, 1593 best wishes, Nick ** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Patrick, KWYA 89.7 Way-FM Astoria, OR was sold to Oregon Public Broadcasting last week, so expect it to flip to a public radio format.. Yes, another dull (FSR) format. Well, I listen to KPOJ or KPTK generally during the day now. I did enjoy having a local station I liked. It has been a rariety most of my life living here.
