Now that things are better, it's time. A week ago last Thursday, I finally went to my Dr for my blood test results (after waiting a week, waaay too long). Anyway, my Testosterone was still low. We checked and in 2008, it was in the normal range, so it had significantly dropped (apparently didn't have the 2009 results handy - I have a full physical every year since it's covered by my insurance). I started on Testosterone gel that Thursday. By last Monday, I was starting to feel better, by Wednesday I was feeling very good, today I'm fairly certain that I'm back to normal. I'm told I will get even better... does that mean I will be better than before I got sick??? We shall see. [IRCA] Alberta DU/TP for 4 Sep 2010
A hair better than yesterday, with a good number of carriers, but still little in the way of audio. Listened from 1215 to 1300, and for the first 15 minutes noted decent carriers on 693, 747, 774, so suspect the first signs of Asians here. The lower band died quickly after that however, and the only audio heard was on 1116 (4BC), and on 1566, which seemed to have traces of Australia mixing with traces of what sounded like Korea, so further evidence of some Asian activity. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] Spanish 1580 mystery identified
** U S A. 1580, Saturday Sept 4 at 1324, incompetent KOKB Blackwell OK once again wasting watts with open carrier, audiblizing the formerly mysterious Spanish sports talk I had been hearing almost every Saturday (only) for months, mentioning deportes. Tnx to Bruce Winkelman in Tulsa, who was able to hear it last Saturday by nulling his local on 1570, and by his Googling, we now know it`s coming from KHGG Fort Smith AR (city of license Van Buren): http://www.bridgingthegapconsultinginc.com/Release.pdf [LA ZONA DEPORTIVA logo] For Immediate Release Contact: Leo Cruz 479-466-2211 Bridging the Gap Consulting, Inc. a marketing and advertising company focusing in assisting businesses in reaching the ever-growing Hispanic market is proud to announce the launch of the all-Spanish local sports website: http://www.lazonadeportiva.com This is dedicated to the local sporting news and events that feature Latino athletes. La Zona Deportiva will be supported by three Spanish radio stations that are in Northwest Arkansas, Ft Smith River Valley and Central Arkansas. We will have highlights, latest news and a community photo gallery featuring our young Latino youths in sports. Coming in April every Saturday from 8am to 10am [13-15 UT], La Zona Deportiva will launch an all-Spanish live sports talk show on the following Spanish radio stations: La Pantera 1440 AM in central Arkansas, ESPN Deportes 1580 AM in Ft Smith and the River Valley and Las Más Mexicana 1140 AM in Northwest Arkansas. ## Bridging The Gap Consulting, Inc. http://www.bridgingthegapconsultinginc.com Following their denial of such Spanish sports, previously had virtually ruled out KGAF Gainesville TX, which is almost exactly the same distance from here as KHGG, another prime suspect --- but never found anything about KHGG switching to a bit of Spanish Saturday mornings only, on their own website. 1580 gets short shrift compared to the other four stations in the Fort Smith Radio group`s website http://www.sportshog1031.com/ --- still can`t find anything about the Spanish diversion, let alone a program schedule for 1580 in particular. So there are two other AR frequencies doing it too. 1140, KLTK Centerton (studio Rogers), 5 kW daytime 1440, KTUV Little Rock, 5 kW Both of which are already full Spanish, per NRC AM Log 2010-2011. I no longer need to chase the 1580 Spanish as unID. Since the press release refers to 1580 as `ESPN Deportes 1580`, I wonder if there are other Spanish hours under different sponsorship; whenever else I have heard KHGG, has still been in English sports talk, or gospel huxter Sunday morning, not CNN Headline News 24h as in NRC AM log. Coördinates in FCC AM Query indicate it is definitely on the AR side of the border, 1 kW non-direxional, but of course no longer any Tiger Maps; Radio-locator shows it: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KHGGservice=AMstatus=Lhours=D (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** OKLAHOMA. 1120, KEOR, Sperry-Catoosa-Tulsa has been on most of the time but signal seems weaker than before, such as Sept 2 around 2030 UT; sometimes hard to tell on caradio. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-4
Hello All, In general the Asiatic TP signals were Ultra Light this morning, and what audio that showed up was mostly from Korea-- the good, the bad and the ugly. 972-HLCA made its first weak appearance this season, and the 1053-Korean Jammer was back with unusually potent signals. As usual, 1566-HLAZ was the star of the morning. For the rest of Asia, though, it seems like another forgettable early-season session. The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider (7.5 loopstick) inductively coupled to a 7.5' sided PVC tuned passive loop in the back yard: 594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Weak Japanese audio in and out around 1312 657 R. Pyongyang, N. Korea Male Korean tirade, 1307 (the ugly) _http://www.mediafire.com/?jpab82b2ilixabx_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?jpab82b2ilixabx) 666 JOBK Osaka, Japan The strongest of the sleeping Japanese this morning 747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Fair Japanese signals through KXL splatter around 1315 972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Strong signal but seemingly under-modulated; weak at 1325 1053 Korean Jammer (unknown location) Buzzing along with good strength around 1328 (the bad) 1134 JOQR Tokyo, Japan Weaker than usual this week; threshold audio in and out 1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. None at all on the lower half of the dial.
Re: [IRCA] Alberta TA
Just a barely audible carrier on 1215 here, Nigel. No sign tonight of the maybe African TA's I've been chasing all summer. In checking 1377, I was reminded that KRKO-1380 no longer seems to be running IBOC; don't remember that being noted on the list best wishes, Nick At 04:54 9/5/2010, you wrote: First audio noted here this season from a TA turns out to be the UK on 1215. Re: [IRCA] TP DX sept 4 audio nuggets
Hi Derek, Wow, great recordings-- especially on a day that neither Nick or I thought had very good propagation. You certainly have a much better location and antenna setup than me (not to mention a better radio). Your 837 kHz MP3 has a dominant Mandarin Chinese station, which presumably could be John Bryant's Harbin (from last year). Your 846 kHz mystery station (after DZRV fades) has music very similar to that on the Australian RN network (like I heard on 576-2RN in Oregon two weeks ago), possibly indicating that you received 846-2RN (which I logged in Oregon with fairly decent signals). This MP3 was from 576-2RN, with Indian-like music on August 22: _http://www.mediafire.com/?otoewv3lvho6f4e_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?otoewv3lvho6f4e) Your 972 kHz MP3 of HLCA is fantastic-- I had the station here this morning, but the signal was anemic, to say the least. Still reviewing your other MP3's sent privately, Derek-- keep up the great work! 73, Gary In a message dated 9/4/2010 5:50:15 P.M.
