Does anyone know if WBYN sometimes ID's as WCHR? I heard a clear WCHR ID on
1160 and was wondering if it was WBYN. I read on line where they are
sister stations. Jim in wmass

[IRCA] TP for 31 Jan from Victoria, BC

Hardly worth turning on the radio this morning, I'm afraid. Started at 1515UT
with some check backs, and pretty limited listeningbb

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

none

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

none

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker

972 likely HLCA

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

[IRCA] KOHI 1600 kHZ much stronger night time signal

2011-01-30 Thread vroomski

Seems like KOHI fixing their ground radials has really improve their signal,
daytime and at night.
In the past at night I could not hear KOHI signal. Now KOHI signal is about
S-9+10db.
The program X-zone plays most nights from 7:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. PST, The
KVRIin Blaine, WA
can be heard underneath KOHI. Daytime coverage has really improved, KOHI can
be heard in Eastern
Vancouver now. When I was in Eastern Vancouver the local Russian station was
not heard on 1710 kHz.

[IRCA] Oldies Format on 720 KHz ( Was: And NOW...Presenting State #37)

2011-01-30 Thread Les Rayburn
Rick,

Congratulations! That’s a very nice catch indeed. I quickly shifted to 720 KHz
after getting your message, and did find the channel “open” which is rare here.
I’m hearing oldies format music underneath WGN, very well tonight.

Any idea who has the oldies format on 720? Anybody?

[IRCA] Oldies Format on 720Khz?

2011-01-30 Thread Les Rayburn
720 Khz is more “open” tonight than normal. Even without the phaser, I can
clearly hear an oldies station under WGN. Well enough to log song titles and
times, but of course, WGN “cranks it up” during TOH and BOH breaks, so I
haven’t been able to catch an ID.

Any idea who the oldies format station on 720Khz might be? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
