At 01:50 CST am hearing rather clear CW music on 750 in WSB null, during WSB fades. Am going to park it here and record all night. Each transmitter is 10 watts. There's no good way to tell if anyone heard a single one of them or a cumulative of all 5, although I'd bet on the former, because these transmitters aren't frequency-stable, and are all likely different amounts off. If it were me, I'd log it as the Secaucus, NJ location which is atop a hospital and is on higher ground than most of the others. Trouble is that with some Cuban stations running one net overnight and another by day ( because the daytime one doesn't provide programming overnight ) it's hard to tell even so depending on what's on any given frequency. Didn't get a chance to mention this yesterday, but yesterday morning while checking for any interesting SRS I was quite astonished to find WCAZ from Carthage, IL, almost alone on 990 at 1300 UT (7:00 CST). One way to tell you've got WCAZ is their INCREDIBLYovermodulated audio! When I was on my way to a Hannibal, Missouri radio station transmitter site about 2 years ago, we had them tuned in on the car radio and they were LOUD.. and our volume control was only 1/4 up. The audio wasn't muddy exactly just incredibly loud.. [IRCA] Two New MW QSL's
It was a good day at the post office for me with two QSLs The first time I have done that is a long time. So that is 5 for February! One I have wanted for sometime, KDDR Oakes ND. 1220KDDR ND, Oakes, finally after several f/ups an e mails, I got a note back from Wade Fossum-KDDR News on what looks like copy paper with the station logo, but only half page. The note said it was them per my CD, so that is ND #20. 327 watts at night. Used SASE enclosed, and sent to 136 Central Ave North Valley City ND 58072. No postmark on envelope, so I don't know if it came from Valley City or Oakes. 21d after 2 followups. Total time 690d. I am thrilled with this! 1240 KBLL MT. Helena, rec a very friendly letter from Stan Evans-PD who answered by KCAP-1340 QSL a few years back in 7d Address: 110 East Broadway, Helena MT 59601.
