[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-21
Hello All, Fairly normal Asiatic conditions returned here this morning, and as a result, 738-Tahiti audio was long gone. The Japanese big guns were still down a little in strength, but the Korean big guns (on 972, 1053 and 1566 kHz) were vibrant indeed, and had the best TP signals of the morning. There was fair reception of the Chinese big guns on 603, 639, 936 and 1044 kHz (although below their typical signal levels) and also 738-BEL2 in Taiwan. At 1313 UTC I apparently heard the same 1566-HLAZ fade-in that Dennis noticed at 1314, and was able to make a recording of the Korean FEBC station's Japanese Christian drama program. 558 HLQH Daegu, S. Re: [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-21 a Victoria perspective
As often the case, no time for a detailed report, but I confirm Gary's findings for Victoria, BC. No sign virtually of any DU activity, except a weak 891. Otherwise the Asiatic big guns were all there, often with very nice signal strength. Once again 1323 CRI Russian was present often with very nice signal strength, virtually on-par with the JJ big guys on 594, 747, especially 774, and 828. HLAZ back at good levels on 1566. Top to bottom, signals all over. A very decent Asiatic TP morning. 73, Walt Salmaniw, Victoria, BC On Fri, Sep 21, 2012 at 3:48 PM, d1028g...@aol.com wrote: Hello All, Fairly normal Asiatic conditions returned here this morning, and as a result, 738-Tahiti audio was long gone. Re: [IRCA] [NRC-AM] 1520 Fox Sports Radio
As Paul pointed out, it's a recent (in this case, VERY recent, as in within the past few days) format change. KOLM remains ESPN, but the mystery station you may now be hearing with Fox Sports Radio is KSIB in Creston, Iowa. This per monitoring by myself throughout the day today. They carry Jim Rome live from 11-2 CLT, among other programming. I guess the question I have to ask is...WHY? Des Moines, some 50 miles away, already has a Fox affiliate on 1460. And in the meantime, the residents of the community of Creston are now being deprived of a station that will provide local service to that community (I don't know if any format changes have taken place at the sister FM on 101.3, since I can't normally get it here). 73, Rick Dau South Omaha, Nebraska From: Jim Renfrew jrenf...@rochester.rr.com To: a...@nrcdxas.org; Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2012 11:01 PM Subject: Re: [IRCA] [NRC-AM] 1520 Fox Sports Radio Just IDed as ESPN 1520 the Ticket, Rochester ... so unneeded KOLM. [IRCA] Alberta TP/DUs for 21 Sep 2012
Well, things may have rebounded on the coast, but not so here in southern Alberta. Zilch from Asia, with even 774 having only a feeble carrier. Not entirely surprising, as I've noted in past years things tend to take longer to recover here than on the coast. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] 1323
To confuse the issue, PAL lists two separate CRI transmitters on 1323, one broadcasting KK (and to further confusion yet, it goes to VoR at 1400UT), and one broadcasting RR. But the latter is in the far northwest of the country, so seems a little unlikely to be the one that we are hearing in RR... So does the Huadian transmitter broadcast RR in spite of what is stated in the schedule? It sure sounded like RR to me at 1334UT this morning. Re: [IRCA] 1323
Nick, PAL's lists the CRI 1323 kHz Huadian , Jilin station with Korean from 1100-1400 utc. Huadian site is about 260 miles West of the Pacific ocean and around 100 miles North of North Korea. Huadian does broadcast VOR from 1400-1500 utc. The CRI Hutubi, Xinjiang station on 1323 kHz is listed with Russian from 1300-1457 utc. The Hutubi site is about 1,600 miles West of the Pacific Ocean . This site has two rows of four antennas and another area has 4 antennas. 44°09'33N,86°53'58E. If you have time, enter coordinates on Google Earth and view the transmitter site. Both Huadian and Hutubi are listed in Asiawaves as 600 kw.
