[IRCA] Oklahoma TP DX 9/18/13
I listened for TP signals at 1027-1217 today (LSR at 1215). Conditions were slightly better this morning than yesterday. 747 JOIB heard at 1045-1049, poor. 774 JOUB heard at 1027-1045, peaking at fair strength at 1039-1042. 828 JOBB?, weak het at 1157, audible by peaking QX control. 972 HLCA, barely audible man talking at 1129-1134. Receiver: PL-310 and Quantum QX Loop. Richard Allen, near Perry OK USA. ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-18
Hello All, Asian TP's were rebounding here this morning with better signals and variety than yesterday, but there still weren't very many second-tier stations showing up. The big guns on 594, 693, 747, 774, 828, 972, 1134 and 1566 had no trouble reaching vibrant audio during peak sunrise enhancement (around 1330), and 738-BEL2 in Taiwan joined in the fun with a fairly potent signal around 1325. 558-HLQH and 603-HLSA managed good signals at times, with 603 being an all-Korean frequency until China showed up very late in the session. A determined check for audio on some second-tier frequencies produced weak Chinese music on 1017-CRI around 1338, and weak Chinese speech on 1035-CNR1 about the same time. During 738-Taiwan's vibrant peak at 1325 a check was made on 1143-Taiwan, but it was a dud at the time. Many of the Chinese middle band stations that normally manage good signals this time of year (1017, 1035 and 1044) have been notable underperformers here this September, with very feeble audio at best. Like Nick has said, except for the big guns almost all of the good TP performers this month have been on the low band, with 603-HLSA, 639-CNR1, 648-VOR and 738-Taiwan being the standouts here. In summary, the Asians were fairly interesting this morning, and hopefully on an upward trend. 603 HLSA Namyang, S. [IRCA] To vacuum tubes lovers
Inspired by this WLW's interesting videopointed out from the Topband list by Nick Hall-Patch,I was remembering about the following I had bookmarked for a while: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3wrzo_fabrication-d-une-lampe-triode_tech Fabrication d'une lampe triode (The making of a triode). For vacuum tubes nostalgicor just for plain curiosity, it surely worth taking time to watch it all (17min)despite a couple of annoying ads... Now, how much would cost that piece of art? [IRCA] TP DX for 19 Sept
Conditions were slightly better than yesterday, but most of the Asians were still weaker than they were a few days ago. The exceptions were the CRI Russian service outlets on 963 and 1323, which were much better than normal. 963 was surprisingly good at times today. Several Alaskans were noted: KYUK made its first appearance of the season, and KNOM was nicely atop KKOH. The upper end of the dial is still signally challenged; even 1566 was struggling today, although that was due in part to electrical noise. Despite Nick and Gary's successes, I still can't hear squat on 603, even though it's a wide open channel.
