Re: [IRCA] coastal TAs...

2014-08-26 Thread Mike Stonebridge
For once I have to agree with Nigel. 1521 was in here several times many
years ago, but these days I condider myself lucky if I see a carrier. But
then conditions can vary a great deal between here and the southern part of
the province, for example: last night Nigel had TAs across the band whereas
I had one faint lonely carrier on 162.

[IRCA] Verification Signers column tips

2014-08-26 Thread Stephen S. Howe
Just a reminder to IRCA members that your tips for my monthly
Verification Signers column are always welcome. Please send them to
the e-mail address in this message.

There were no columns for July or August because no tips were
submitted, but I am hoping that with the approach of the DX season,
several of you will be sending reception reports to some of the
stations you log.

2014-08-26 Thread James Pogue
Steve - I wonder if you could share your last few months of tips with Brandon
Jordan who is now the IRCA/NRC DX Test coordinator? Might help with setting up
some tests this winter. Thanks. Jim Pogue

[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 26 August 2014

2014-08-26 Thread Nigel Pimblett
A bit of an odd morning, with lots of carriers, seemingly from both TP
and DU, but very little audio.

702	ABC Sydney	Talk by a woman at 1207. Strong carrier for the whole
session, but only a few minutes of audio.

774 JOUB, Japan	traces at 1152, and never got better than a word here
and there.

828 JOBB, Japan	very weak Japanese at 1154, about the same situation
as 774

855 unID Just traces of audio. Not sure if it was TP or DU

972 HLCA, Korea Weak, with talk by a man at 1151.

1116 4BC, Brisbane Traces of presumed 4BC at 1209.

1557 unID decent carrier, but only managed bare traces of audio at
1202 for a minute or so.

1566 HLAZ Korea Again the best TP of the morning. Mostly poor, but
with a brief spike up to good at 1212.

Like yesterday, the two Koreans were better than the Japanese.

73,

Nigel Pimblett
