[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-3

2014-09-03 Thread Gary DeBock via IRCA
---BeginMessage---

Hello All,

Another fairly mediocre band presented itself this morning, although in an
improvement over yesterday a much greater variety of Asians managed some form
of weak audio. Vibrant audio was scarce, however, and none of the TP's could
manage it for more than a few seconds at a time during sunrise enhancement.

My session started off at 1300 with a pretty diverse collection of Asians
already in weak audio-- 594-JOAK, 603-HLSA, 693-JOAB, 972-HLCA, 1044-CRI, the
1053-Jammer.and 1134-KBS. With the exception of the 1053-Jammer all of these
anemic signals stayed at a fairly weak level, though, and bailed early around
1325 Unlike most mornings there didn't really seem to be any propagation trend
toward favored TP areas-- they were all equally mediocre. Only the 1053-Jammer
reached a good level for more than a few seconds, although both 594-JOAK and
972-HLCA had their brief peaks of decent strength from 1305-1310. Like some
DXers (including me), the Asians seem to be a little slow in getting untracked
for the new season.

1053 Korean Jammer Good buzz at 1305; best TP signal of the morning

Re: [IRCA] [dxld] AM radio struggling to keep listeners.

2014-09-03 Thread Bill Harms
I understand Brandon. However, the conservative talk and sports radio
aside, what will AM radio offer to listeners in the future.? My adult
children, around 30 years old give or take, do not listen to AM radio
and rarely if ever listen to FM radio. I know that my experience is
anecdotal, but the ratings suggest that fewer and fewer young people are
indeed listening to AM radio.

I have to wonder what form AM radio will take in the next 15 to 20
years. And I love AM radio, and have for over 50 years.

[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 3 September 2014

2014-09-03 Thread Nigel Pimblett
In spite of starting my listening earlier today, the results were
just the same as yesterday, so perhaps I didn't miss anything yesterday
after all.

828	JOBB, Japan	Weak with language lesson at 1218. Usual powerhouse on
774 was only a mediocre carrier.

1566HLAZ, Korea Fair for a few minutes at 1220, with talk by a man.

891 was very close to audio at about 1233, most likely Australia.

[IRCA] TP 3 Sep Victoria version

2014-09-03 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Again, fairly lively right out of the starting gate at 1130UT, the
usual Asians, though I couldn't claim usual Asians like 603-HLSA,
693-JOAB, 1044-CRI and 1134-KBS as Gary did, hi. 1116 made a fairly
good appearance for DU representation to round things out both early
and late. Can't say there was much sunrise enhancement this morning
though.another splashy morning, with a new buzz in the electrical
noise pantheon

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

not today

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

774 JOUB solo classical piano, woman in JJ 1147UT, a bit of a change
from the language lessons. Maybe piano lessons instead.

828 JOBB piano mx, woman in JJ 1156UT //774
972 HLCA man in KK 1220UT
1116 4BC presumed, maybe a game show question five, let's see... by
man 1148UT , back at various times, good level again at 1324UT to
round out the session, man in DU EE

1566 HLAZ woman in JJ 1233UT, couple of other times later as well

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

747 JOIB classical piano, woman in JJ //774 1149UT
1053 KK jammer 1208UT
1287 JOHR? man in JJ 1141UT
1566 HLAZ woman talking on phone, other woman responding , CC, 1140UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music) :

567 slow female vocal 1306UT, not //594
594 JOAK man talking JJ inflection, 1154UT, NHK pips at 1200UT, but
not much else

873 JOGB woman in JJ //828 1146UT
1098 man talking DU EE inflection 1308UT; NZ?
1107 man talking, maybe DU EE? briefly up 1330UT
1575 woman talking, maybe SE Asian language? 1307UT

Strongish het, no or near imaginaryaudio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter):

612 702 738 864 909 936 1008 1044 1143 1179 1206 1242 1269
1323 1332 1593 (at least five carriers, one about 35Hz high)

best wishes,

Nick
