[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 6 February 2015
I seem to have out of sync with Gary lately. On days he reports better reception mine generally gets worse, and such was the case today. Action, such as it was, was limited to the two regulars at the top of the dial. Both 1566 HLAZ and 1575 VOA had periods of fair reception, but a bit earlier today, peaking around 1430. There were some carriers lower in the band, but they seemed to correspond to my DU channels, with 702, 774, 891, 1116, 1548 having decent carriers, though not quite to audio level. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

ROFL at the Denver FCC that can catch KPIO which I don't think ran day power at night for all that long, but misses nearby cheater KREL 1580 which generally dominates half the country at night with 15 kW day power for many months. 73 KAZ -Original Message- >From: "Dennis Gibson wb6...@gmail.com [ABDX]" >Sent: Feb 6, 2015 3:31 PM >To: "a...@yahoogroups.com" , Mailing list for the >International Radio Club of America >Subject: [ABDX] Forfeiture order for nighttime cheater > >Every once in awhile it busts one. > >http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2014/db0109/DA-14-18A1.pdf > >Sent from my iPhone ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] Forfeiture order for nighttime cheater
There were five CPs. The oldest (January of 2002) was for 10 kW daytime and 6 watts nighttime. It was amended to 10 kW daytime only. The other three were for 17.5 kW/3 watts. The last one expired in November of 2011. I guess 3 watts gets your foot in the door. Sent from my iPhone > On Feb 6, 2015, at 5:15 PM, "Paul B. It's not anywhere close to being a done deal. The application to assign the license was just accepted for filing on December 29. It will be quite a number of months before assignment of the license is granted. The FCC moves very slowly. The purchase price is $100,000, which seems like a lot for a 250 watt daytimer. At night it would get crushed by KMOX. The only thing better than KPIO (7 kW/18 watts) is the lower frequency. Sent from my iPhone > On Feb 6, 2015, at 4:16 PM, "Paul B. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 2-6
Hello All, Asian signals generally improved this morning, with quite a few low and middle band TP's reaching fair to good levels during the predawn darkness. Unlike yesterday, though, the sunrise didn't seem to give much of a boost to the high band Asians. At my 1430 start time 1566-HLAZ was the strongest TP with fair to good peaks, along with fair signals in and out on 594, 603 (HLSA), 657, 693, 738 (presumed BEL2), 747, 972 and 1134 (KBS). Around 1445 the low band seemed to hit its peak, with 594-JOAK at a fair to good level, along with 972-HLCA and 1134-KBS. These three set the pace until around 1500, when increasing daylight caused them to fizzle, along with 1566-HLAZ. 1575 and 1593 started showing up with fair peaks on the high band, but didn't build up very much steam during sunrise enhancement. 1566-HLAZ also came back with a few fair peaks, but without yesterday's sharp sunrise enhancement boost. Such was the story of a pretty diverse morning, which featured the best variety of low band signals in quite a while (although at pretty modest levels). 972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Re: [IRCA] [ABDX] Fwd: End of MexicoRadioTV website announced
Very disappointing news, BUT...if Fred's website is indeed winding down, then I would strongly suggest to all DXers to do as I did a while back (thanks to a great tip from DXer Tim Tromp in Michigan!) and head over to http://mwlist.org. It's not a listserver and it doesn't cost anything to sign up. You just need an ID and a password and you'll have access to what is a very detailed database of LW, MW, and SW stations in the world, including some that are now silent. 73,Rick DauSouth Omaha, Nebraska EN21afhttp://mwlist.orghttp://www.dxworld.com/bcblog.html To: a...@yahoogroups.com From: a...@yahoogroups.com Date: Thu, 5 Feb 2015 21:32:20 -0600 Subject: [ABDX] Fwd: [IRCA] End of MexicoRadioTV website announced Sincerely, Todd Skaine Woodbury, MN Sony ICF 2010 Superradio 2 Grundig S350 &M400 Toyota car radio -- Forwarded message -- From: "Russ Nelson" Date: Feb 5, 2015 9:22 PM Subject: [IRCA] End of MexicoRadioTV website announced To: Cc: Fred Cantu, a local radio-TV personality here in Austin, Texas, has maintained a web site which lists all AM radio stations in Mexico for as long as I can remember. Yesterday he posted on his Facebook page that he will no longer be able to maintain this site. (Facebook url: https://www.facebook.com/mexicoradiotv?fref=nf Like much of the site, it is in Spanish, but it's meant for listening to Mexican AM stations, so some knowledge of Spanish is assumed.) Fred asks is there is anyone (or any group) that might be interested in taking over the maintenance of this resource. I have found it valuable, since I live closer to two Mexican states than to any other US state. From Austin, at least these days, AM radio is probably two-thirds in Spanish, and Fred's site has been a great help. I thought I'd announce this end of an era to IRCA, in the off-chance that somebody might be interested in following in Fred's shoes.
