[IRCA] American TP Stations Received in Western Japan
For those interested in how many of our local pests can cross the "big pond," a group of Japanese DXers in Kyoto has posted a Google map of all their TP receptions of North, Central and South American stations (103 total) received from 1994 to 2015. This was first posted on a Japanese Facebook group. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zqDBFLWFWDm0.kmFqjf_0NTaA 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 18 November 2015
My work schedule prevented full attention to the dial this morning, however I did note some Asian action for the first time in a while. 1575 Thailand and 1566 Korea were fairly consistent, and they were joined at times by a few minutes here and there of audio from Japan on 693 and 828. For some reason 774 wasn't up to much. Judging by the latest solar numbers, the recovery could be short-lived, so I'll take what I can get. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, AB Perseus SDR & Wellbrook Phased Array ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] DX 11/17
Our power was off from about 4-8:30p PST on Tuesday. Also off were (1) KKMO-1360 (1 mile away) and (2) a whole lot of electrical noise. Of note (PST): 1230 KCUP Toledo, OR w/ID at 8p. I believe they hyphenated during the ID with “Toledo-Newport” and that they went in to Fox News. New. 1250 K… Seattle. Now with Indian (Punjabi?) music but most of the ads and announcements are in English. Don’t know if they have changed calls yet. Of note only because it sounded like they were on night pattern around 6:30p but at 7 they were definitely on day pattern. This is one of those quirky grandfathered-in arrangements where they are supposed to go on night pattern at sunset but can go back to 5kw non-DA at 9pm local. I guess the presumption is that KWSU has no Western Washington listeners after 9pm. 1510 KSFN Piedmont CA around 7:30p presumed but it didn’t sound like Mandarin. Perhaps a dialect. Not a lot of juice in this direction. No sign of KGA. Nothing stood out on the usually blocked 1350-1370. Maybe next time! [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 11-18
As Colin has reported Asian signals improved once again this morning, producing the best session of the entire month here. The NHK big guns on 593, 693, 747 and 774 managed good audio during peaks from 1430-1450, as well as the Korean regulars on 972 and 1566. In addition several less common low-band Asians made fair appearances during peak sunrise enhancement around 1440, including 558-HLQH, 603-HLSA, 657-Pyongyang and a presumed 738-BEL2. Weak echoes from the 1035-CRN1 synchros rounded out the session around 1455. Favorable Asian propagation was already in full swing at my 1430 start time, with 603-HLSA, 657-Pyongyang and 1035-CNR1 in and out with fair audio, as well as good signals from 594-JOAK, 747-JOIB and 1566-HLAZ. Other Japanese big guns on 774 and 828 were also in and out at decent levels, and 738 (presumed BEL2) was at threshold level. 603-HLSA managed several fair peaks with its pop music and deep-voiced male host // 558 from 1435-1445, while 657-Pyongyang's female tirade signal fought it out with 660 domestic splatter. 738 came up to a fair peak around 1450 with some Chinese speech in the KCBS splatter, but not distinct enough to recognize the usual voices. Late on the poorly-synchronized 1035-CNR1 stations made a weak appearance around 1455, but didn't stick around for long. The session was tapering off around 1500, with only 972-HLCA managing fair to good peaks as the propagation fizzled out. Overall the session was a dramatic improvement over the lackluster results for most of November, and one of the better mornings of the entire season. 603 HLSA Namyang, S.
