[IRCA] TP 27 Dec Victoria version.

2018-12-27 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Iran jammer was stellar at times this morning; nothing else was, even remotely.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

1575 Iran jammer 1529UT; but had been noted since before 1500UT, and lasted
weakly until after 1700UT, occasionally audio underneath, but couldn't be sure
whether it was Farda or VoA Thailand

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling with splash or noise):

 no

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could
be understood by a native speaker:

972 HLCA woman Korean 1507UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

702 unID man talking 1520UT, no clue at language, sounded a bit like Tagalog to
my inexperienced ears. Then something else faded above the talk, music and
eventual female talk 1522UT

1566 choral music 1508UT, assumed HLAZ

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged
by splatter)

 594 774   seemed to be Asian;
nothing seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick

That was my "out of town" evening, and you could tell, hi.

However, did leave the recorder on for some top of the hour amusement:

531 pop music, poor 0100UT, no sign of stopping for an ID; also
0202UT, with somewhat more of an Arabic tinge to vocals, still poor

1575 Iran buzzer, good level, over singing, assumed Farda
0102UT. The buzzer had actually been better in the morning (next report)

855 and 882 had mumbling at 0100UT, noticeable carriers 864, 1107, 1215

best wishes,

Nick

TA reception was quite good here in Seattle tonight. I'm surprised
nobody reported anything from north of the border.

[IRCA] KHAT 1210 Logged in SoCal!!!

2018-12-27 Thread Mike Sanburn
Late last night at 0300 PST/0400 MST I finally caught a crystal clear top of
the hour ID from KHAT in Laramie Wyoming. I have been chasing them for over a
year now often hearing country music here when KPRZ CA fades down to nil. I
know that sadly KGYN 1210 in Guymon OK no longer carries a country music
format. All of this heard on my little Sangean DT 160 Ultralight...'Nice to
have them logged, and just a couple days after Christmas.
