Re: [IRCA] Live DX spotter / chat system *show of hands*

2019-12-14 Thread Les Rayburn
Rick,

I tried this tonight and it worked like a champ, except no one was in the
chatroom except for me. I called a friend, and had him join me. It worked
fine—but he has no interest in MW DXing…so no joy.

Who’s in? Let’s revive #MWDX…it’s a great resource!

[IRCA] Mostly Mexican [sic] MW DX to Enid OK, December 9-14, 2019

2019-12-14 Thread Glenn Hauser via IRCA
--- Begin Message ---
 These logs are excerpts from my daily
all-band reports, mainly SWBC,
also VHF/UHF, sometimes utility, ham,
which may be found in several
archives without much delay, such as
http://www.hard-core-dx.com/index.php?topic=Hauser

And compiled weekly along with
extensive news from many other
individuals and publications in DX
LISTENING DIGEST:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxldmid.html

All my MW DX reports starting August
2011 are archived in this forum with
open access:
http://forums.wtfda.org/showthread.php?6543-MW-DX-from-Enid-OK-by-Glenn-Hauser/page81
[over 399,000 views! as of December 15, 2019]

All times and dates strictly UT. Rx:
mostly DX-398 with internal antenna
only or PL-880; NRD-545 with ALA-330S
inside E-W or inside randomwire N-S;
Nissan stock caradio
as specified; ICR-75 with 100-foot E-W
longwire.

** ALGERIA [and non]. 531, Dec 10 at 0332, Jil-FM quite separable from
weak 530 signals, and some talk modulation, presumably ``Algerian
Arabic`` as in WRTH which also shows F`kirina is location, 600 kW, 24
hours, and BTW this is in AM, not FM! Could this be the grandest AM
station in the world which has lost its identity to FM? 12X the power
of WSB. Weaker het tho same power on 549 I can`t separate so well from
550s; BTW, nothing much on 576 which was an Algerian sensation a
couple weeks ago; is it off again? Usual set of other JBA TA MW
carriers at least on bottom half of band, I relent and don`t enumerate
this time, but also note some music on 774 at 0334 from the RNE1 Spain
synchros (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 2861.088, Dec 14 at 0237, carrier with maybe trace of
modulation. I`ve been hunting for 2-MHz-band MW harmonics but not much
lately, not even 2940+ from Colombia.

The 2860 area is next spot to focus on, as reported earlier in 2019:
```COSTA RICA [and non]. 2859.812, March 21 at 1153, JBA carrier,
suspected the known active second harmonic of 1430, Radio San Carlos,
as IDed recently by Jay Novello, NC, but without a precise
measurement. In *2017y* I reported:
``COSTA RICA. 2859.82, Jan 18 at 0049, JBA carrier on the signature
off-frequency of R. San Carlos, Ciudad Quesada, 2 x 1430v as
previously identified``.```
But this variant is considerably different, way on plus side.
Fundamental would be 1430.555. Any clues in MW Offsets, which does not
deal with harmonicizing?
http://mwlist.org/mwoffset.php?khz=1430
Nominal 1430 starts with the CR from almost a decade ago:
1429.91 TIRDVC Radio San Carlos (Ciudad Quesada) 1100-0400 2010-01-16
And skipping down to the most plus:
1430.0119 MEX XEWD Radio X (Ciudad Miguel Alemán) 2016-01-26
1430.018 PRU La Voz de Salvación (Jaén)[-1430.125] 2019-02-10
Neither of which looks likely; or domestic? Anyhow calls for further
checking (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
Until the next, best of DX and 73 de Glenn
