[IRCA] Interesting DX 5/14

2011-05-14 Thread Patrick Martin
Greetings everyone,

Between 1000-1100 EDT, I found some interesting DX here on the Northern
OR Coast.

540 I am now getting a weak NOAA weather station off the Eastern
Beverage, Redding off the SW EWE and no sign of CBXQ. I wonder if they
are off? It seems to me I have not noticed CBXQ in sometime.

1500 Ft. Lewis WA TIS is this operating, weakly heard this morning.

1660 Another Coastal NOAA Weather station //1650.

1700 UNID TIS weakly off the NE EWE, mentioning Wenatchee Avenue

1710 The Russian Pirate. I still get a carrier during the day from
them here off the NE EWE and weakly most nights.

SW, NW, NE EWE's
1500' Eastern Bev.

At around 6,300 miles from London to Lima, I'd say that's great DX, Barry!

[IRCA] Interesting DX 5/14

2011-05-14 Thread vroomski

WPVS 690 Ridgefield, WA which broadcast on 530 kHz was been running Portland, OR
NOAA broadcasts for a couple months now. All of the construction work has ended
and is due to start in about a year. I wish they would shut down the station
until road constructions starts again. A few years ago I read about the FCC
shut down a HARS station in the Los Angeles area for broadcasting NOAA and not
traffic information. I can hear a weak Portland PDX airport parking information
station under WPVS 690 on 530 kHz.

Best regards,

Dennis,
Salmon Creek, WA
