I have listened at least 3 times after local sunset and CKWX is S-9+40 db on
the NW ewe.
Not a whisper out of KPWX 1130 Mount Angel, OR.

[IRCA] Re Spanish music on 1130

2010-09-30 Thread vroomski

Mt. Angel, OR is about 289 miles from Vancouver, BC. Vancouver is 357.4 degrees
North of Mt. Angel, OR. KPWX signal is strongest 40 degrees to 60 degrees
which is
Northeast. I have taken pictures of KPNX towers, they look rather small when
compared
to KEX's towers, but it seems that the signal gets out great.

Bruce,

Wow! KPWX is that strong, so close to CKWX. No wonder, they over-power
CKWX here. Even with a phase, it is impossible to get CKWX in the clear
during the day now. Really sad, as CKWX put is such a good signal, even
heard on the car radio. Do we really need another SS station?
Apparently someone thinks so.

Re: [IRCA] Re Spanish music on 1130

2010-09-29 Thread Bruce Portzer
It's more a case of KPWX sending lots of power to the north, rather
than not powering down

I checked the car radio at 5:45 tonight when I left work. KPWX was
already loud, and overpowered CKWX about 90 percent of the time. Much
of the time, KPWX was near local strength with little or no trace of
CKWX. Occasionally it faded down allowing CKWX to fade up for a few
sentences. This was no small feat, since CKWX has (had?) a very
listenable signal during the day here in Seattle. For the record, I'm
120 miles south of CKWX and 160 miles north of KPWX.

I rechecked 1130 at 7:25 PDT tonight and the two stations were fighting
it out. At 7:30 CKWX was suddenly alone, and has been ever since (it's
now 8:15), so KPWX definitely dropped power tonight.

Frome what I heard in the car, KPWX will give CKWX fits during mornings
and afternoons, which can only intensify as the days get shorter. I can
understand why listeners in the Fraser Valley are complaining.

Make that KPWX.

Anyone in the central US or further west and not pounded by a local on 1130 (WI
