Re: [IRCA] DXer.ca internet radio - testing now...
You can get server space from these guys, http://www.egihosting.com for less then $20 a month and rather then serve out all the streams from YOUR internet conenction, slowing you down when you wanna s urf.. you only feed one st ream out to egihosting. Colin, Either the link you posted is invalid, or you didn't stream for very long after you sent your message. Incidentally, many stream links are like; http://00.00.00.00:/listen.pls although one can certainly have an m3u link with any title referencing the stream URL. Hope this info helps. -- Rick - Original Message - From: Colin Newell c...@islandnet.com To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2010 12:14 PM Subject: [IRCA] DXer.ca internet radio - testing now... Rick Kunath IP addresses starting with 24 (e.g. 24/8, the entire 24 space) are called the cable modem block which implies that Colin is trying to feed out on this type connection. This means it is possible that his provider does not allow inbound connect requests, from others, to port 8000. In _some_ cases, upgrading to a business class service (from residential) (at additional cost) can fix this issue. And running a firewall at the sending location would also stop this, unless the firewall admin opened that port to inbound connect requests. - Bob ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] DXer.ca internet radio - testing now...
I think one of the respondents pegged it with Residential cable modem users cannot stream audio -- and my user docs on my network confirmed this -- and yet, Nicecast - which is the software running on this Mac says that it's server is pinging my Port 8000 connection just fine - I will try once more and think about upgrading to the business grade connection - it is about twice as much, but for me, is a tax deduction. Going to run up the audio stream again at 0340 UTC - 13 minutes from now. For some, podcasts are better - they are on demand and you can listen when you want. Stay tuned.
