Re: [IRCA] Florida graveyarder into Michigan last night
Great catch Tim! 1240 here on south D-KAZ is heavily bothered by WSBC, the only Chicago area GYer to give me serious grief. I have only 2 sure GY logs from IL slightly beyond 1000 miles. CJAR 1240 (WSBC was easy to phase to death with NW BOGs) and WTAN 1340 in very severe AU. Over the years I've suspected a couple more distant ones in AU's and using appropriate antennas but couldn't prove it. 73 KAZ On Tue, Mar 28, 2017 at 10:25 PM, Brian Rachfordwrote: > 1000+ miles over land is impressive! 1000+ miles over land is impressive! Also, a very clear (relatively speaking) ID and standing out nicely. My record is 1230 XEIZ in Monterrey, NL at 956 miles, but they were probably running 10 kW, so that's not quite the same thing. Very nicely done, Tim! My lifetime graveyard distance record belongs to a reception of KOTS-1230 Deming, New Mexico that I got from Millard (a section of west Omaha), Nebraska. 893 miles. That was accomplished, by the way, in late August 2002, nowhere close to the typical "dead of winter" peak for graveyard receptions that normally happens in early February. 73, Rick Dau South Omaha, Nebraska EN21af From: IRCA <irca-boun...@hard-core-dx.com> on behalf of Tim Tromp <kilok...@gmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 28, 2017 6:08 PM To: IRCA Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America; abdx Subject: [IRCA] Florida graveyarder into Michigan last night Interesting auroral conditions early yesterday evening stirred up WMMB on 1240 from Melbourne, Florida, busting my previous distance record of 962 miles when KANE (also on 1240) was heard here during similar conditions a few years ago. Interesting auroral conditions early yesterday evening stirred up WMMB on 1240 from Melbourne, Florida, busting my previous distance record of 962 miles when KANE (also on 1240) was heard here during similar conditions a few years ago. WMMB comes in at 1,088 miles and is now my furthest GY catch. Here's a Perseus recorded video of the excitement: https://youtu.be/tnmF_2e3_VI 1400 WJQS out of Jackson, MS. also made it here last night and was another new GY catch at 782 miles and now my furthest on 1400. 73, Tim Tromp West Michigan Perseus SDR + D-KAZ aimed due South ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
