Yes, the good ol' days when a lot of station had QSL cards. I was
surprised to find that KKXA has a card, so there are still some that do.

My first QSL was Radio Norway in English on medium wave, I was thrilled to hear
them and to receive a beautiful card, I didn'tknow what a QSL card was before
then. Radio Portugal soon followed, also in English on AM.

T hat makes three of us.  KFBK was my first QSL as well.  I saw a picture
of one of their cards in Popular Electronics, so I decided to write them
 on 12-31-64.

Indeed, cards are a lot rarer than they used to be.I was very
surprised to get three in one week earlier this month, from KKXA, KFQD,
and WBBR. That hasn't happened in a very long time.

Like Patrick, the post office left me a nice gift for Christmas too.
 A
nice full data verie letter from Dirk Christensen, Program Director at
 1340 KGFW, Kearney, Nebraska was my U.S. station #1000 QSLed (I don't
count call changes). Just over 40 years after #1 (which was KFBK).
