Re: [IRCA] KKDZ-1250 format change

2015-09-21 Thread Dennis Gibson
KZDG-1550 in San Francisco is very similar. It was KKHI for many decades.

KLOK just got a CP to increase night power from 5 kW to 9 kW and move to the
KSJX/KZSF transmitter site.

KMIK-1580 in Tempe was sold last month but are still Radio Disney. From what I
heard they will change to religious and change call but I have not heard when
the change will take place.

Re: [IRCA] KKDZ-1250 format change

2015-09-21 Thread Chris Black
I also have been monitoring for a couple days. I had a time trying to figure
out their website as they didn’t spell "DESI". Of course their listeners
know what it means so I guess no need to spell it. It means those of Indian,
Pakistani, etc descent who live abroad. I did hear one KKDZ ID so I guess
they are keeping the calls for now.

Here in Seattle I have yet to hear a legal ID on 1250 during periodic
listening since the format change was first noted on Saturday.
But they call it Desi Radio (sounds like Daisy.)
I don't know what Desi means, but I've heard it used on other radio stations
with Indian-language formats.
The station's website is http://www.desi1250am.com.
RadioInsight reports that its format is similar to that of KLOK-1170 in San
Jose.

[IRCA] KKDZ-1250 format change

2015-09-20 Thread Bruce Portzer

Seattle's former Disney outlet, KKDZ-1250, has switched to South Asian
programming. The change apparently happened in the last few days.

Have been monitorong today and they are giving a website but without accurate
spelling it's too garbled to make out. I did hear something about braodcasting
from the Space Needle and lots of Indian adverts.
