Re: [IRCA] Local KAZA/1290 off
Santa Barbara is just a bit different...kinda like Haight-Ashbury meets Beverly Hills. They're pretty rare 250 miles to the north. KPAY/Chico puts out a helluva signal, and I'm in the crosshairs of KAZA/Gilroy. Its nice when they're off. Now if I could catch KNBR, KCBS or KGO off. Very good catches happen here when any of them are off. Mike [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: BBC News huh? That's kinda odd for an AM that Radio-locator lists as nostalgia. [IRCA] Local KAZA/1290 off
But still has OC running. Spotted: * KPAY/Chico CA (yawn) with Coast to Coast AM * KKDD/San Bernardino CA (yawn) with Radio Dizknee * KCUB/Tucson AZ with sports * KZSB/Santa Barbara CA (all 122 watts of it) with BBC news Lotsa hets, audio on 774 and 1242. Judging by the sound of it, its possible that 693 might break through XETRA/CBU (if adjacent 50KW KNBR @ 22 miles allows it). Re: [IRCA] Local KAZA/1290 off
Mike, Good description of Santa Barbara. More specifically, is it rich drug addicts or just rich hippies? hi. Do sound the alarm if any of those stations are off (which I'm sure you will). I don't believe I have EVER heard any of them off. 73- Doug Santa Barbara is just a bit different...kinda like Haight-Ashbury meets Beverly Hills. They're pretty rare 250 miles to the north. Michael Hawkins wrote: Just rich...the rest gets morphed together, with the exception of the one-gloves man who's in a class all by himself. And speaking of rich...to get back to the question of why KZSB 1290, a commercial station, was carrying BBC news, it's because the station is the playtoy of one of Santa Barbara's richest and most eccentric people, Wendy McCaw, owner (unfortunately) of the Santa Barbara News-Press. Google her, if you're interested, to learn more about this very interesting woman and what she's done to what was once a fairly decent paper. In any event, Ms. McCaw can program pretty much whatever she darned well pleases on her station, and evidently she does. s ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://arizona.hard-core-dx.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
