[IRCA] MYSTERIES
I recently submitted two rather lengthy reports of my receptions during the cruise we were on. Here are four that I left out (times are local): 1485 - 8/21 3pm in Rotterdam. I don’t speak Dutch and can’t ferret out an ID but my guess is Hollands Palet in The Hague. It is 1 watt as per WRTH. 1431 - 8/21 9pm in Rotterdam. I can’t tell the language - it could even be heavily-accented English - but there is a definite “Phoenix Radio” ID. Ukraine is the most likely but the ID doesn’t fit. 1386 - 8/24 8pm from Liverpool. This is Radio Clatterbridge, a low power hospital station (“LPAM”). Very professional sounding, and if you Google it, you can see the station has nice facilities. You would think it would move to FM to avoid hospital electronic noise. 1485 - 8/22 2pm from off the SW corner of England (4951n 0517w) in Spanish. There were several SER outlets on 1485 but the one that makes the most sense is Santander, 10kw, on the North coast of Spain, the only one with a water path. Pete Taylor Tacoma, WA 12225w 4719n HQ180 & ICF2010 Kiwa aircore & Palomar loops DX398, SRF-59 & M37V Eton E100 + Tecsun PL-300/380 ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] Mysteries on 640
Rick, I have caught the same station here, I believe u/KFI. I think it may be Louisiana forgetting to power down. Most nights I never get a peep, but on occasion the station wil show up. I have never caught an ID either, but the LA station I think is oldies. I only have heard it off the Eastern Beverage 73, Patrick Patrick Martin Seaside OR KGED QSL Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Mysteries on 640
For the last 20 minutes or so, I've been getting someone on 640 with pop and rock oldies such as the Eagles' "Hotel California", Mike & the Mechanics' "The Living Years", Stevie Wonder's "Superstition", and now Peter Frampton's "Baby, I Love Your Way". Also hearing opera music, and both stations seem to be looping SE, but the one with the oldies never seems to ID. Both are fighting a strong signal from WWLS.
