The recording started with faint C/W music under presumed CHTK. At 09:00 MST (11:00) I heard and ID for KVOK-Kodiak and then into ABC news. This is my third new Alaskan this season. Spending that amount of time on 560 was not a total waste as I also added WIND and CHTK to my overall logbook. Hi. I first logged KVOK in the mid 80's while living in Hawaii. I won an on-air contest, being the first caller to identify a song. I won a dozen doughnuts, and surprised the dj on air, because I could not come to the station to get them. It was mid-winter in Ak, and 86 degrees in Honolulu, so I had fun going on the air on KVOK. I was on WHAS-840 once back in the mid 70's. The phone number was given out so I called. It took a little convincing before the guy believed I was in California. I logged KVOK the first time back in the early 80s. Dave Williams logged it one morning and he phoned me. I immediately went over to 560 and found KVOK coming in nicely. I sent out a tape of the programming to KVOK and got a nice QSL back in a couple weeks. I then had not heard KVOK in years until after I hooked up the NW EWE a few years ago.
