That is why so many do DXpeditions these days. Get away from locals as well as the noise. Patrick Martin Seaside OR KGED QSL Manager From: IRCA on behalf of Paul B. Re: [IRCA] Noise Floor: Where Do We Go From Here?
I totally agree with Russ. It will continue to go up. KSWB 840 Seaside went with a 250w translator as John (owner) has the same issue, which FM doesn't.The only way to get rid of it is to move out in the middle of nowhere, as some have done, but that is not always practical. Here on the coast, my noise level used to be almost nil, but the noise level has even increased more here. Too many electronics that have noise. I agree with Russ, the future isn't bright in regard to the noise problem. I'm curious as to what noise will be generated by the wind turbines planned for my neighbourhood. Richard Allen. Re: [IRCA] Noise Floor: Where Do We Go From Here?
As a tropical band DXer (a dying breed), I just want to know how I can get CODAR identified as "harmful interference". :^) But I agree with Russ. I don't see how anything is going to change. The IoNT (IoNT = Internet of Noisy Things) will continue to expand, as everyone wants to be instantly connected to everything, and all new tech is designed from the start to be "smart" tech. I hope I don't sound too Luddite there Mark On 2016-12-15 4:14 pm, Russ Edmunds wrote: If I have a guess, noise will continue to go up, and the FCC will be unable to take any steps strong enough to have an effect.
