I've settled on the ELAD FDM-S2 SDR. I've decided not to wait any longer for the S3 mainly because I anticipate it will be expensive, and I'm happy to capture a good-size segment of the FM band rather than the whole thing. The S2 is tried and proven by quite a few of you, and I'm good with that.
That said, I want to use my current work Macbook Pro for this. And buy a new Macbook for work and personal use. Problem is, I have not heard of anyone running the ELAD FDM-S2 on the Mac platform. ELAD tells me, somewhat cryptically, that "You can try to install a virtual machine under Mac Osx, example Bootcamp or Vmware fusion and download a sample of our software to give it try. Please let me know if that will work." This isn't entirely convincing - I am not terribly computer-savvy and am not sure from their wording to me if they are 100% certain it will work. I hate to buy another computer if it won't do the job. As a last resort I would buy a PC. Perhaps, in that case, a lower-end PC. Any advice? is there anyone out there that has successfully and easily hooked the ELAD FDM S2 to a Macbook?
