A small improvement on yesterday, mainly down unders, and for a limited time.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

not by any means

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling with splash or noise):

the above passing through

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could
be understood by a native speaker:

612 4QR //774 1505UT

774 3LO "sunny and 41" from woman, "ABC radio" from man 1504UT. That "41" was
not Fahrenheit...

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

594 JOAK woman and man talking, Japanese intonation 1535UT

702 man talking, DU English intonation 1517UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged
by splatter)

747 774 972 1566 1593 seemed to be Asian;
594 738 756 792 891 1017 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick

A little Asian activity before 1400UT (in fact, an earlier recording
(1000UT) had suspected New Zealand on 819 and 1107), then a little
more around sunrise. Not unpromising is the best that can be said

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

not today.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

774 JOUB orchestral music then western classical sounding choral
music with man in Japanese talking, 1532-9UT, unusual programming for
this. At 1540UT nice "JOUB dai ni hoso" ID and into national anthem
and music box.
1566 HLAZ not much at actual sunrise (1542UT), but faded up
immediately after 1600UT and by 1602UT, man in Korean was easily as
strong as the Japanese s/off had been at 1343UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

972 HLCA woman in Korean 1550-1UT, best strength of the
morning. Pips crept through at 1600UT also.

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)

558 laid back vocal music 1346UT
567 JOIK woman talking, Japanese inflection 1334UT, paralleled with
similar strenght 594 at 1335UT

819 man talking, sounded like DU English 0959UT, 6 pips on hour; New Zealand?
1107 woman talking 1001UT, DU English inflection

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)

best wishes,

Nick

That was a bit of a wild ride, compounded by the fact that I always
seemed to be on the wrong antenna; there were serious differences
between the north and west Flag this morning. Most vivid was the
sub-600kHz opening on the west Flag that was hardly there at all on
the north Flag around 1520UT. Slightly later, as Bruce said, the
upper band had more emphasis especially on the north Flag, then
everything crashed just after 1535UT for the most part, except HLAZ
which held on thunderously until it started to fade after 1540UT

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

594 JOAK man and woman JJ 1521UT
603 HLSA male ballad, KK talk 1521UT
1503 JOUK man in JJ 1533UT //594 sometimes much stronger, sometimes weaker
1566 HLAZ man and woman in CC, musical interludes 1530UT until after 1540UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

558 HLQH male ballad 1521-3UT //603 w/JOCR nipping at its heels w/man in JJ
1557 Taiwan vocal pop mx 1532UT best on north Flag
1593 CNR1 man in CC 1535UT, briefly at this level and
//6125; earlier, may have been NHK2, but no parallels

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

531 JOQG man in JJ //594 1521UT
540 NHK1 synchros man in JJ //531 1521UT; catch of the morning,
dominant on channel at times

774 JOUB man in JJ 1509UT
1422 JORF man in JJ 1523UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)

567 JOIK man in JJ //594 1521UT
1242 JOLF? man talking 1534UT, JJ inflection
1575 lively vocal pop mx 1528UT; didn't sound VoA; by 1530UT, not
enough left to hang your hat onto

Strongish het, no or near imaginary audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)

An odd morning, with a bit of an enhancement where 1557 pretty ruled,
and 1287 had two stations, neither of which sounded like JOHR.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

nothing quite made it today

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

1557 Music Interactive Network man in CC 1529UT
1566 HLAZ man and woman in JJ 1301UT; nothing quite this good
during the CC program

1575 burst of VoA theme mx at 1530UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

738 Tahiti woman in FF battling the splash 1449UT
972 HLCA likely, female vocal mx 1527UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music) :

603 HLSA? male ballad 1344UT
612 4QR male talk, on and off until just past 1400UT when ABC news
fanfare was heard, and woman started talking

909 unID instrumental mx traces 1526UT
1287 unID woman talking sounded CC, instrumental music also that had
an oriental flavor, not usually JOHR's style

1314 woman talking, could have been JJ 1524UT
1422 man mumbling in splash, maybe CC? 1534UT

Strongish het, no or near imaginaryaudio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter):

747 774 828 891 1098 1116 1224 1269 1404 1503
