Major signs of life in the low band this morning, but mostly faded down before
sunrise

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

567 JOIK weather reports for Japanese cities 1456UT

594 JOAK 1442UT

747 JOIB English lessons 1443UT

774 JOUB 1438UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling with splash or noise):

603 HLSA soft music, soft-voiced woman in Korean 1443UT

828 JOBB 1435UT

972 HLCA man and woman Korean

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could
be understood by a native speaker:

702 NHK2 English lessons 1436UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

666 JOBK //594 1446UT

693 JOAB //774 1457UT

837 not NHK1, but music heard on north Flag

891 JOHK woman //594 1430UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged
by splatter)

 729 846 855 864 873 954 1422  1503 1566 seemed to be Asian;
 567 738 846 855 1017 1098 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick

An extraordinary mess of DX, much unidentified, or unidentifiable on multiple
channels. I've run out of steam going through the files, so there's likely a
lot still to be foundand never will be.A lot of peculiarity to the
morning too, many signals with strong carriers and little to no audio riding
along, plus domestic splash seemed pretty lively as well.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

567 JOIK woman in Japanese //594 1454UT
594 JOAK man in Japanese 1506UT
639 CNR1 woman in Chinese 1452-3UT, used a number of times for parallels
693 JOAB man in Portuguese //774 1449UT
747 JOIB 1500UT pips, woman in Japanese
774 JOUB woman singing //873 1458UT
828 JOBB too numerous to mention
972 HLCA woman in Korean 1455UT
1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese 1517UT, far better on north Flag. This wasn't quite
as strong in general as other mornings.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

657 woman singing operatic style 1500UT, assumed N. Korea

1242 JOLF man in Japanese 1503UT
1287 JOHR Japanese pop 1458UT
1323 CRI its incredibly strong carrier delivered this audio level very briefly,
stringed music leading to chimes and fanfare 1459UT
1575 VoA ID, Yankee Doodle, following program in Burmese announcement by man
1530UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could

603 HLSA man talking //558 1502UT

783 slow choral music 1506UT
837 JOQK //594 woman talking 1447UT; mostly assumed Chinese was dominating

1053 man talking excitedly, Chinese intonation 1450UT

1116 man talking Chinese intonation 1449UT
1134 woman in Korean? 1457UT

1224 JOJK female ballad, not //594, but was //585 1456UT
1251 CNR1 man talking //945 1508UT
1305 woman singing 1509UT; also a ballad at 1529UT; didn't hear any talk. A
Chinese station most likely?
1386 NHK2 woman talking //774 1503UT
1503 JOUK woman talking //594 1443UT

Quite a step up from yesterday. The signal strength monitor says
774 was pretty hot much of the night for example, but it was the
sunrise boost just after 1500UT that had a few more unusual ones popping up.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

774 JOUB man in Japanese 1513UT
828 JOBB man and woman talking //873 1501UT
1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese 1528UT, still some audio turning up after
1600UT, but didn't hold on as late as yesterday

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK woman in Japanese 1519UT
747 JOIB man in Japanese //1386 1510UT
972 HLCA man in Korean 1444UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

567 JOIK man in Japanese, another man agreeing 1426UT
1116 4BC man talking, DU English 1326UT, soon faded
1287 JOHR man in Japanese 1511UT, fading up pretty rapidly to this level
1314 JOUF man and woman talking in Japanese and laughing 1504UT, best
on north Flag

1593 CNR1 man in Chinese 1524-1527UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)

612 for a change of pace, likely 4QR with man talking, DU English
inflection 1307UT

873 JOGB man talking //828 1501UT
945 CNR1 woman talking //6135 1520UT
954 man talking, Japanese inflection
1179 man talking, Japanese inflection 1509UT
1242 pop music 1304UT, likely JOLF?
1386 NHK2 man talking //747 1510UT
1494 JOTL catch of the morning, man mumbling, Japanese inflection,
but definitely //1287 1530UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)

693 738 864 1017 1053 1098 1134 1269 1332 1422 1512 1548 seemed to
be Asian; 1548 likely DU (but another carrier on the channel was
Asian, better on the north Flag, and on channel rather than 10 Hz off)

best wishes,

Nick

More than initially met the ear this morning, although sunrise lift
was nearly non-existentpost sunrise, well, 1566 and 972 delivered
very weak audio at 1612UT...

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

1566 HLAZ Gregorian chant style singing 1332UT, earlier and a little
weaker, heard woman in JJ with "FEBC wa..." mention

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it

972 HLCA? man and woman talking, maybe KK, 1320UT; slight traces of

Not a stellar morning, and not helped by a recording failure from
1410-1509UT, but the signal strength monitor says that (maybe) I
missed something on 1503. Not many audios, and those that occurred
eventually got strong enough to ID, but there really weren't many
overall. Things pretty much fell off a cliff by 1520UT.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,

not today

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it

774 JOUB pips 1300UT and into wx report
1593 CNR1 man in CC 1514UT, seemed //6175 at 1515UT, but was fading
pretty quickly
