A better morning than yesterday (not a high bar, admittedly). I think that the big gun signals at least may have been stronger in the hours before sunrise, but by 1445UT, the levels reported below were about the best it was going to be. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): not quite Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling with splash or noise): 594 JOAK 1517UT 774 JOUB 1517UT 972 HLSA 1542UT not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 603 soft vocal music 1538UT, likely HLSA? but no parallel 747 JOIB music box 1541UT 828 JOBB music box 1542UT 945 CNR1 two men in Chinese 1555UT //1593 Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 1098 CNR1 man //945 1556UT 1287 man talking, Japanese intonation 1606UT 1566 woman talking Chinese intonation 1556UT 1575 woman talking, SE Asian language? 1542UT 1593 CNR-1 man //6175 1549UT Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) 639 702 819 891 1008 1323 seemed to be Asian; nothing much seemed to be DU best wishes, Nick Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Despite geomagnetic upset, there were still Asiatics, though these ones tended to be strongest in the upper end of the band with a peak around 1530UT, about 20 minutes before local sunrise. There was a lull between 1440UT-1510UT approximately for Asians, but not much in the way of Aussies showed up today. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): not quite today Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 594 JOAK last DX left standing 1553UT, man in Japanese 774 JOUB English lessons 1414UT; didn't come up to this during the pre-sunrise enhancement 1503 JOUK woman singing 1534UT //594 which was quite a bit weaker 1566 HLAZ assumed, female vocal 1534UT not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 828 JOBB "time trials" English lessons 1409 //774 1386 NHK2 man talking //747 at 1532UT, with 1386 the stronger Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 612 man talking, DU English intonation 1507UT 693 JOAB man talking //1386 1532UT 747 JOIB man talking 1445UT; English lessons? That turned out a more interesting morning than might have been gathered from my live listening from 1515UT onward. The opening seemed to start closer to 1430UT, and though not spectacular, had considerable audio at times from both DU and Asia.
