[IRCA] carrier on 693 Part 2

2008-11-09 Thread Bill Harms
Okay, I tried again for the 693 carrier this morning between 0830 and
0900z using the same antennas as yesterday. I could not get an antenna
to the NW to work right, so I don't have a good bearing. Anyway, I had
some threshold audio this time and with a little work, I might be able
to get something out of it. The station had musical selections with
announcements. This does not sound like NHK that I remember from Korea.
There was only slight traces of a signal after 0900. This time, no
traces on 747 and 774. There was a 20 second or so blimp around 738, but
that could have been from 740's audio - a song hitting that frequency

Well, I am now leaning towards a lingering European. What are others
hearing at this time? West Coast DXers, what does NHK have between 0830
and 0900?

[IRCA] IRCA] carrier on 693 Part 2

2008-11-09 Thread vroomski

Bill,

A few years ago I would get off work around 0800 utc and when JOUB 774 NHK2
was in I would here music at times. One morning around this time I heard
White Shade of Pale
by Procol Harum.

Woke up at 0915 utc this morning and JOUB 774 was in on the R-30cc
with the active whip. Check you recording around 0900 utc for pips. Good luck
Bill.

Hello Bill,

Like Dennis and Nick, I am also a west coast TP DXer, and I was
actually listening on the band early this morning, at the time you described
(0830-0900z).

693 was only a moderately strong carrier here around 0830, but there
was already good audio on 594, 747, 774, 828 and 972. This apparently was the
peak Asian sunset propagation period for the day, so I am inclined to believe
that you probably were indeed receiving signals from Asia, although I'm
sorry that I kept no record of the NHK2 network (JOAB-693) program at that
time.
