thanks to those who responded to my inquiry. I think 1650 KKJZ ( now KFOX) was the second CA. station and came on in 1997. Re: [IRCA] first California xband stations
I can't recall who the 2nd one was, but I can say for sure that the first was KXBT-1640/1630 in Vallejo, which came on in (I THINK) Feb or March of 1996. Format at the time was black oldies from the 60s and 70s, and the slogan was something like "Solid Gold Soul 1640", or somesuch. KXBT was the 2nd overall station to appear on the X-band after WJDM-1660 in New Jersey, which debuted in Dec 1995. I have not heard either station since about 1997. 73, Rick Dau South Omaha, Nebraska EN21af Http://www.dxworld.com/bcblog.html From: IRCA <irca-boun...@hard-core-dx.com> on behalf of Jim B <jim01...@gmail.com> Sent: Thursday, March 3, 2016 10:13:54 AM To: irca@hard-core-dx.com Subject: [IRCA] first California xband stations Does anyone know the first 2 stations that came on the expanded AM band in California back in the 1990's?
