[IslamCity] Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), at Tabuk

2006-02-26 Thread Khalid Bin Umar

Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him),at TabukIn 630 C.E., prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), led an expedition to Tabuk. At Tabuk he delivered a classical address which provides glimpses of his message. After praising Allah T'ala and thanking Him, the Prophet said: (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), ___ "Well, verily the most veracious discourse is the Book of Allah. The most trustworthy stronghold is the word of piety. The best of the religions is the religion of Ibrahim.(Alaihissalaam) The best of the precedents is the precedent of Muhammad. The noblest speech is the invocation of Allah. The finest of the narratives is this Quran. The best of the affairs is that which has been firmly resolved upon. The worst in religion are those things which are created without sanction. The best of the ways is one trodden by the Prophets. The noblest death is the death of a martyr. The most miserable blindness is the waywardness after
guidance. The best of the actions is that which is beneficent. The best guidance is that which is put into practice. The worst blindness is the blindness of the heart. The upper hand is better than the lower hand[1]. The little that suffices is better than what is abundant and alluring. The worst apology is that
which is tendered when death stares one in the face. The worst remorse is that which is felt on the day of Resurrection. Some men do not come to Friday prayer, but with hesitance and delay. And some of them do not remember Allah but with reluctance. The tongue which is addicted to false _expression_ is a bubbling spring of sins. The most valuable possession is the contentment of heart. The best provision is that of
piety. The highest wisdom is fear of Allah, the Mighty and the Great. The best thing to be cherished in the hearts is faith and conviction; doubt is infidelity.Impatient wailing and fulsome laudation of the dead is an act of ignorance. Betrayal leads one to the fire of Hell. Drinking amounts to burning. Obscene poetry is the work of the devil. Wine is the mother of all evil. The worst thing eaten is one which belongs to the orphan. Blessed is he who receives admonition from others. Each one of you must resort to a place of four cubit (grave). Your affairs would be decided ultimately in the next life. The worst dream is false dream. Whatever is in store is near.To abuse a believer is transgression; raising arms against him is infidelity. To backbite him is a disobedience of Allah. Inviolability (and sacredness) of his property is like that of his blood. He who swears by Allah (falsely), in fact falsifies Him. He who pardons others is himself granted pardon. He who forgives others, is forgiven by Allah for his sins. He who represses anger, Allah rewards him.He who faces misfortunes with perseverance, Allah compensates him. He who acts only for fame and reputation, Allah disgraces him. He who shows patience and forbearance, Allah gives him a double reward. He who disobeys Allah, Allah chastises him.I seek the forgiveness
of Allah.I seek the forgiveness of Allah.I seek the forgiveness of Allah.Footnote: 1. The hand which gives charity is better than the one which receives it.Reference: Life of Muhammad by Prof. A.H. Siddiqui, pp. 283-4 BROTHER IN ISLAM KHALID BIN UMAR

The Basic
Education Development (BED) project is being implemented in 21 community schools: 16 in the Nugal region and five in the Hiran region. It was launched in November 2004. The BED project consists primarily of two components: basic education for children, with an emphasis on improved access for girls and functional adult literacy for women. The project has benefited 6,746 children and 723 adults. "ADRA has really changed my life," said 14-year-old Maryan Hassan Mohamed, a student at the Jalalaqsi Primary School in the Hiran region of Somalia. Maryan lost a leg to a gunshot early in her childhood during Somalia's civil war. For many years, Maryan was unable to go to school because the closest school was too far from her house. The project is funded
by the European Union (EU) in partnership with the ADRA offices in Germany and Somalia. ADRA has been operating in Somalia since 1992 and has managed over 50 projects funded by different donors in eight sectors, namely: water, primary health care, education, food security, infrastructure, institutional capacity building, micro-enterprise development, and emergency response interventions.

[IslamCity] Printing Cartoons Was a Mistake - Bill Clinton

2006-02-26 Thread Alan Border

“ So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:” (Al-Qur'an, 94:5 -Al-Inshirah [Solace, Consolation, Relief]) Printing Cartoons Was a Mistake: ClintonAzhar Masood, Arab News http://www.arabnews.com/?page=4section=0article=77984d=18m=2y=2006(Comments in RED are Mine)ISLAMABAD, 18 February 2006 — Former US President Bill Clinton yesterday called the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) a mistake. “I strongly disagree with the creation and publication of cartoons that are considered blasphemous by Muslims around the world. I thought it was a mistake (to publish them).”Clinton, who
completed two terms at the White House, was addressing a joint news conference here with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. Clinton said he had no objection to Muslims staging massive demonstrations across the world as long as they were peaceful. The former president said Islam was a fast-growing religion in the United States and in Europe. “I don’t think the people of Denmark endorsed such publications.” He, however, said journalists and writers should bridge the gap between civilizations and
cultures.Aziz said Clinton was a friend of Pakistan. “He is visiting Pakistan to help this country in its efforts to combat HIV. The prime minister said Clinton had played a vital role in creating inter-faith harmony. Clinton, who arrived early yesterday for a day-long trip, held talks with Pakistani President
Pervez Musharraf and Aziz. He signed an agreement under which the Clinton Foundation will help Pakistan with HIV/AIDS treatment, care and prevention.Musharraf thanked Clinton for the HIV/AIDS program and help extended after the October earthquake, while Clinton praised Musharraf’s efforts to promote peace and stability in South Asia, the Foreign
Ministry said in a statement.“The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of subjects. The President (Musharraf) underscored the importance that Pakistan attaches to a broad-based, long-term sustainable relationship with the United States,” the statement said. The 7.6-magnitude quake killed nearly 74,000 people, injured as many and made an estimated 3.5 million people homeless.Comments - MineWould President Clinton make the same comments if he was the incumbent President. Not even in our dreams. Now he is without the shackles of the Jewish lobby he is making comments expecting it to please the Muslim world. Of course many Muslims would be fooled by this will be thrilled to bits. They will be saying “look, even President Clinton is also on our side”.As to President Clinton’s assistance in the HIV/AIDS prevention program, I believe Islam has the simple solution for this disease. i.e “No Sex Outside Marriage”. This simple solution will help in greatly reducing the no of AIDS cases worldwide.AB [EMAIL PROTECTED] "For to us will be their return; then it will be for us to call them to account." [IslamCity] British historian David Irving jailed in Vienna, Austria for denying Holocaust

2006-02-26 Thread Abdul Wahid Osman Belal

How Zionists Jews are backed and Muslims ridiculed under theabuse of freedom of speech and _expression_.Irving jailed for denying Holocaust Ian Traynor in Vienna Tuesday February 21, 2006 The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/farright/story/0,,1714403,00.html Three years for British historian who described Auschwitz as a fairytale David Irving, the discredited historian and Nazi apologist, was last night starting a three-year prison sentence in Vienna for denying the Holocaust and the gas chambers of Auschwitz. Irving, who appeared in court confidently yesterday morning carrying his book Hitler's War and a PG Wodehouse paperback, immediately vowed
to appeal against the sentence. "I'm very shocked," he said as he was led from Vienna's biggest courtroom back to the cells where he has been held for the past three months. "Stay strong David, best of luck to you," an English supporter shouted after the sentence was read. Irving, 67, had started the day affecting the image of an English gent arraigned before a foreign court. "Frankly, questions about the Holocaust bore me," he said. He clutched a copy of Hitler's War - "my flagship, 35 years of work" - and from his blazer pocket he fetched the Wodehouse book Eggs, Beans and Crumpets. He called the trial "ridiculous" and claimed that the Austrian law under which he was being tried would be scrapped within a year. Austria has Europe's toughest law criminalising denial of the Holocaust. Irving went on trial for two speeches he delivered in the country almost 17 years ago. He was arrested in November last year after returning to Austria to deliver
more speeches despite an arrest warrant against him and being barred from the country. In the two 1989 speeches he termed the Auschwitz gas chambers a "fairytale" and insisted Adolf Hitler had protected the Jews of Europe. He referred to surviving death camp witnesses as "psychiatric cases", and asserted that there were no extermination camps in the Third Reich. State prosecutor Michael Klackl said: "He's not a historian, he's a falsifier of history." Arguments over freedom of speech were entirely misplaced, he added: "This is about abuse of freedom of speech." Irving's defence lawyer, Elmar Kresbach, appealed to the jury for mercy for an ageing man with a 12-year-old daughter and an ill young wife. Even if he did voice views which were "horrible" or "repellent", he was no danger to Austria. Last night Irving's partner Bente Hogh said he had brought his imprisonment on himself by going to Austria despite the ban. She said: "He was not
jailed just for his views but because he's banned from Austria and still went. David doesn't take advice from anyone. He thought it was a bit of fun, to provoke a little bit." Irving pleaded guilty but under Austrian law the trial went ahead. Judge Peter Liebtreu called Irving "a racist, an anti-Semite, and a liar", citing the verdict delivered by Justice Charles Gray at the high court in London in 2000 when the historian lost a libel case against an American writer and academic and was bankrupted. Irving said that defeat had cost him $13m, but supporters were sending donations to help him fight yesterday's case. The judge repeatedly asked Irving if he still subscribed to the views articulated in the 1989 speeches. "I made a mistake saying there were no gas chambers in Auschwitz," he conceded. He claimed the Holocaust figure of six million murdered Jews was "a symbolic number" and said his figures totalled 2.7 million. He said he was
not sure how many died at Auschwitz, but he mentioned a figure of 300,000, a fraction of the accepted total. And he still believed Hitler protected the Jews and tried to put off the Final Solution - the systematic killing of all European Jews - at least until after the second world war. The resistible rise of the historian who rejected plain facts Duncan Campbell Tuesday February 21, 2006 The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/farright/story/0,,1714470,00.html David Irving's court appearance in Vienna is the latest in a long line of legal battles in which the far-right historian has been involved stretching back almost 40 years. Throughout this time, he has portrayed himself as a victim of smear tactics who is seeking to bring to light historical truths, while his opponents and critics see him as a would-be
martyr cynically using the arguments of free speech to peddle myths to appreciative extremist audiences. Born in Essex in March 1928, the son of a Royal Navy lieutenant commander, Irving went to Brentwood School before studying physics at Imperial College, London. He did not graduate but won a reputation as a controversialist. Medically unfit to serve in the RAF for his national service, he worked briefly in German steelworks in the 50s. Returning to Britain in 1963, he published what was to be the first of a series of increasingly controversial books about the second world war, entitled The Destruction of

RE: [IslamCity] Girls basketball team won't play in front of men

2006-02-26 Thread Alam Tasneem

it comes from the idea of a "more liberal 21st century Islam" saying you know what Islam is a religion of freedom so girls are allowed to do anything in public they are allowed to at home yes of course a muslim girl participating in Olympics swimming cant swim in a scarf ..come on..so she has to wear or more appropriately not-wear the olympic swiming costume Right??? You can always play in the gym or the backyard... but when you want to play a competitive game, don't go to this extreme that no man should be around. What is the point in making this a news item? Where is this going to lead?
One of the girl says this "We're not allowed to be seen by guys without (Islamic dress). We've all learned to accept that." . Sounds like their fathers are not allowing...and they have learned to accept it.

Girls basketball team won't play in front of menBY DEBORAH HORANChicago Tribune
CHICAGO - Duaa Hamoud holds a basketball to her hip. She is standing in a long blue gown in a gym at Bridgeview's Universal School. Her head is covered in a white scarf pulled tightly around her neck. Not a wisp of hair is showing.
Around her, other high school girls dressed in similar flowing robes shoot a few casual baskets while they wait for practice to begin. There are no men in the gym - no male coaches, no boys from school, no dads or brothers in the bleachers.
So when the coach arrives and the real training starts, they can peel off their Islamic dress, exposing their sweat pants and short-sleeved T-shirts underneath.
"We'd run if we noticed a man peeking in the window," Hamoud, 16, explains. "We're not allowed to be seen by guys without (Islamic dress). We've all learned to accept that."
But the girls can't accept that they have only been allowed to compete against girls basketball teams from other Muslims schools. There are only four in the Chicago area, they complain, and their competition isn't exactly tough.
Since last year they've been beseeching Coach Farida Abusafa, a 26-year-old English teacher who also coaches sports, to ask public schools and non-Muslim private schools if their girls teams would be willing to compete against girls from the Universal School.
The problem is that the schools would have to agree to bar men and boys above the age of puberty from watching the games.
"It's not like it's a sin to play a public school," Abusafa said. "The problem is the males coming to the game."
The dilemma underscores the balancing act many Muslims perform as they toggle between American and Middle Eastern culture. Many of the these young girls straddle the divide with ease, yapping on their cell phones at the mall one minute, observing the school's strict gender segregation the next. But the girls are also mindful of the challenges they face.
"It's something you have to decide you want to do," said Shaylin Najeeullah, 16, a member of the varsity basketball team. "You can stay true to what you believe
