Boycott Israel [IslamCity] =?windows-1252?Q?Which_is_better,_to_recite_Qur'aan_from_the_Mushaf_or_from_memory??=
- To access: Islam: Questions And Answers, please visit: http://islammuslims.com - 3465: Which is better, to recite Qur'aan from the Mushaf or from memory? Question: Is it better to recite from the Mushaf than from memory? Please explain. Answer: Praise be to Allaah. If one is reciting Qur'aan in situations other than in prayer, then reading from the Mushaf is better, because it is more accurate and helps one to remember better. But if reciting from memory is easier and helps one to concentrate more and have better presence of mind (khushoo'), then one should recite from memory. In prayer, however, it is better to recite from memory, because if a person recites from the Mushaf, he will be doing repeated actions such as holding the Mushaf, putting it down, turning its pages and looking at the letters. By doing so he will miss out on putting his right hand over his left hand on his chest when standing during the prayer, or spreading out his arms during rukoo' and sujood, if he puts the Mushaf under his arm. Hence we think that it is preferable for a person who is praying to recite from memory rather than from the Mushaf. We see some people when they pray behind the imaam, carrying the Mushaf and following the imaam's recitation. This is something which should not be done, for the reasons we have referred to above, and because they do not need to do anything except follow the imaam. However, if the imaam does not have such a good memory, and he says to one of the members of the congregation, Pray behind me, and follow me (my recitation) in the Mushaf, and if I make a mistake, correct me, then there is nothing wrong with this. From the fataawa of Shaykh ibn `Uthaymeen, al-Fataawa al-Islamiyyah, 8/4). - To access: Islam: Questions And Answers, please visit: http://islammuslims.com - *** {Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. The video images have surfaced little more than a year after a Danish paper published cartoons of the Prophet that sparked violent protests worldwide. The images, filmed by artist Martin Rosengaard Knudsen who posed as a member of the party for several months to document attitudes among young members, show a number of young people drinking, singing and drawing cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Mohammad. The faces of the young people were blurred in most of the footage. One cartoon appeared to depict the Prophet Mohammad as a camel, urinating and drinking beer. The competition took place in early August, according to Danish media.Another cartoon strip aired in the partly masked footage on state TV seemed to show the prophet Mohammad surrounded by beer bottles and included an image of an explosion. Members of the youth wings of other parties, including the ruling Liberal party, criticized the DPP on Friday. Kenneth Kristensen, a senior member of the DPP's youth movement, also criticized the events, but stopped short of apologizing."It's not my kind of humor and it would not have happened if I had been there. It must not be repeated," he told Danish state TV. The Danish Peoples' Party rose to prominence in a 2001 election on a platform that combines emphasis on increased spending on schools and care for the elderly with a strong anti-immigrant stance. It has been accused of racism, but has been a political ally of the center-right coalition led by Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen since 2001 and gained more than 13 percent of the vote in an election last year.In September last year Danish daily Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons, including one showing the Prophet Mohammad with a bomb in his turban. They were later reprinted elsewhere. Muslim clerics denounced them as blasphemous, sparking protests in which more than 50 people died in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Most Muslims regard any depiction of the Prophet Mohammad as offensive. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Finding Islam ... Finding Truth
It is a sad irony of America's otherwise senseless aggression in Iraq. Many many Westerners are rejecting our leaders' demonization of the Muslim world, and instead coming through study to know and deeply love Islam. One need only read the Qu'ran, and the messages of peace, justice ... of Allah's power and plan, past and future ... come through clearly and strongly. I have read widely in many traditions (Christian, Buddhist, Aboriginal, etc.), and am increasingly convinced that there is, indeed, no better guide to the REAL nature of the spiritual and material universe and man's place in it - in turn glorious and ignominious. Before I read the Quran, I could ask in a thousand mundane ways: Who is not paying the poor rate? Who are the hypocrites? Who is it that leads otherwise good men astray? What unseen forces are at work in our historical tragedy? Why does God allow such evil to flourish in the world? Why must humanity suffer so greatly? So far, I've found that only Islam gives me the tools and concepts to ask these questions in a way that connects logically at all relevant levels of meaning/existence. A few things seem key to the potency of this message: - Allah is the Lord of the Worlds ... not just this world (modern physics also posits many worlds, of various sorts, 'material' and immaterial). - Allah is the Lord of the seen and the unseen (modern physics also posits such realms ... perhaps all about us). - Allah is omniscient and omnipotent in an extremely practical way ... he can even choose NOT to know some things. - Allah has given knowledge (including scientific knowledge ... parts of The Book?), which some have cheated and abused. - Allah's plan is to bring about justice on a universal scale ... righting wrongs wherever and whenever they may be. It is a powerful book... a great faith... the basis for humanity to move on to such great truths as have never been imagined by us... or, allowed TO us. I KNOW that Allah's plan is unfolding ... perhaps accelerating now, through our interactions. I have seen this with my own waking eyes. I have seen it in my dreams. Allah's 'new race of humans' ... is here, already... again(?)... returned? Why now? Simple. Real technology ... real science ... on a wide scale. As we broadcast ideas, smash atoms, share learning from across the globe ... this is a time TRULY like no other in human history. Is Allah not the God of Science? The God of Information? Let us make the best of it. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Muslim Nobilty in Russia A Historical Perspective.
Bismillah Rahman Rahim, Moslem nobility in the Russian Empire ( A Historical Perspective). The steady territorial expansion of the Russian Empire, which at the time extended to the regions of Siberia, Crimea, the Caucasus and Turkestan, as well as a number of Polish territories along the Volga and the Urals, in effect meant that many historically Islamic nationalities came under Russia's rule. According to the first national Census of 1897, approximately 14 million people out of the Nations 130 million were Moslems. The vast majority of those were the Shiites, while in the regions of the Caucasus and Pamir (now Tajikistan) a smaller section of Moslems were the Sunnites. One of the most important goals of the Imperial authorities was to establish solid relations with the Moslem nobility, which, alongside with the clergy and the merchants, was the leading group of the Moslem community in Russia. The hereditary nobility, the descendants of Ghengisids, as well as other noble families constituted a considerable portion of the Moslem social elite. The relationship between the Russian authorities and the Moslem minorities has seen the periods of tension and strain. Although the word of Islam and Moslem institutions were never officially outlawed in Muskovy, the conversion into Orthodox Christianity was generally quite welcomed. Several hundred names of the Turkic origin are listed in the Russian gentry statutes. The Usupovs, the Tenishevs, the Urusovs and many others were the key figures of the political, military and cultural history of Russia. In 1598 ?1605 Boris Godunov, a descendant of one such family, became a ruling Czar of Russia. A number of noble Tatar- Bashkir families offered their service to the Russian Czar, while keeping their Moslem faith. Such families were granted permission to keep their land estates, and even received new lands. Their service was paid from the Czar?s treasury, but nonetheless they did not have rights to own Christian serfs. The 16th and 17th centuries saw the establishment of the so-called Kasimov fiefdom, -a Moslem khanate, located to the south of Moscow and vassal to Russia. The governor of the Kasimov khanate had to be a Moslem descendant of the Ghengisids; the lands were mainly inhabited by the Tatars, who were bound by obligation to serve to the Russian State. In the numerous wars waged by the Muscovite State against its adversaries, detachments of Moslem Tatars fought side by side with the Russians. The Moslem soldiers helped Muscovy to achieve a decisive victory over the militia of the city of Novgorod at the river Shelon. In 1552 the Moslem troops of Kasimov Tatars ?the loyal vassals of Moscow- joined the Orthodox Russian soldiers in their offensive against the Tatar kingdom of Kazan. It should be noted that the intrinsic conflicts that followed the annexation of the regions along the Volga, were not, by and large, based on the Russians vs. non-Russians principle- the position of both parties was rarely determined by the issues of national or religious identity. The conflicts of this troublesome period were rooted in the confrontation between the advocates of the idea of the multinational state and the opponents of the single Moscow-controlled State. To illustrate the point, one could turn to the events of the year 1612, when the combined Kazan force, comprised of the Russians and the Tatars, arrived in the city of Yaroslavl to serve in militia. After the split-up that followed, a portion of Orthodox Christians and Moslems stayed to serve the Motherland and free Russia from the alien yoke. Others made a choice of going on with their rebellion, and according to the chronicle, great trouble and many calamities had they brought to the land. In 1613, when the Zemskii Sobor elected Michael Romanov as the new Czar, the deed was signed by a large group of individuals, with perhaps 700 members. Among those were the seven Tatar noblemen, who spoke for the revival of the single Russian State on behalf of the Moslems of Russia. The reign of Catherine the Great brought about a major change in the state religious policy and the attitude towards Islam in particular. On June 17, 1773 the Empress signed a landmark decree on religious toleration in Russia. By the terms of the Kucuc Kaynarca peace treaty, the Russian government was obliged to ensure the inviolability of all religious freedoms for Moslems. Since then and up to the early 20th century Russia recognized the Ottomans? right for caliphate, or the supreme spiritual power over Sunnite Moslems, even those under Russian authority. In the meantime the Russian government began pursuing the policy of incorporating the Empires Islamic gentry into the Russian noble class. As a result of this policy, by the end of the 19th century there were approximately seventy thousand of Moslem hereditary and service noblemen, which amounted to up to five percent of the total number of gentry. The Moslem nobility found the state

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Rulings of al-Madd (elongation) in Qur'aan recitation
- To access 1000s of Questions And Answers, please visit: http://islammuslims.com - 5368: Rulings of al-Madd (elongation) in Qur'aan recitation Question: Would please tell me what the symbol ~ has effect on the meaning of word or phrase of the holy Quran If some one does not Prolong the sound of the letter under ~ would that change the meanings ? Answer: Praise be to Allaah. This symbol ~ is used to indicate places where a Madd (elongation) that is longer than the regular elongation is required. It is used in places where the Madd is compulsory (Madd laazim), as in the word At-Taammah, where the elongation is six harakaat or counts. One harakah is equal to the time taken to curl or stretch one finger. This symbol is also used for al-Madd al-Muttasal (where a long vowel is followed by a hamzah in one word), such as sawaa'un `alaynaa , where the Madd is between four and six harakaat. And it is used for al-Madd al-Munfassal, (where one word ends with a long vowel and is immediately followed by a word that starts with a hamzah), as in the phrase fee aadhaaninaa waqar, where the Madd is four or five harakaat. This symbol does not have any effect on the meanings of the words; it is only used to indicate some kinds of Madds or elongations, as explained above. The Madd which is longer than the regular elongation (two harakaat) does not change the meaning when you do it. But we have to follow the Sunnah of recitation, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to elongate some vowels in his recitation.
