Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Dua by Muslim-2

2006-12-04 Thread ***hajikhan***

`Abdullah bin Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet
(PBUH)
  used to supplicate:

  "Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda, wat-tuqa, wal-`afafa, wal-ghina

(O Allah! I beseech You for guidance, piety, chastity and contentment).''

   [Muslim].

Commentary: "Guidance'' means guidance towards virtue which one needs at
every
step. The ability to do good and steadfastness on the Right Path is also
covered by
the term guidance. To comply with the Orders of Allah and to prevent oneself
from
what He has forbidden is Taqwa (fear of Allah), the importance of which needs
no elaboration. `Affaf is prevention from sins. It also means evasion from
seeking
help from others. Ghina means riches which makes one independent of others
so
much so that all one's hopes are centered on Allah Alone. The prayer quoted
in this
  Hadith is very comprehensive indeed.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Knowledge,Compassion and Accountability

2006-12-04 Thread Khalid
As'salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Peace be upon you,

"If anyone goes on his way in search of knowledge, God will make easy
for him the way to paradise" [Muslim]

"The superiority of the learned man over the everyday worshipper is
like the superiority of the moon when it is full over the stars"
[Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood and Ahmad]

"The search for knowledge is a sacred duty (faridah) imposed on every
Muslim man and woman" [Ibn Majah]

In this light it is the duty of any nation or group of people who
call for the law of Islam that they are obliged to ensure education
is accessible for all members of that community, men or women. By
implication this also means that any non-Muslim living amongst the
Muslims is equally entitled to the same access that a Muslim is with
regards to education, and its knock on effect of opportunity. There
can be no room for discrimination the grounds of race in Islam, nor,
as is common today, discrimination on the grounds of gender.

"Have compassion to those who are on earth and God in heaven will
have compassion on you" [Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood]

"God will show no compassion to him who does not have compassion
toward all human beings" [Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood]

As a result of education comes understanding, to care for ones fellow
human being. What greater truth can there be but that humanity is one
seeking the same goals in life: opportunity, challenge, security and
peace.

"You will not enter paradise until you have faith; and you cannot
have faith until you love one another" [Muslim]

So the lesson is clear. Humanity cannot find success until such time
as humanity cares for one another. The Quranic prohibition with
regards to loving non-Muslims does not relate to a person who accepts
Islam and is then somehow obliged to hating their non-Muslim family;
nor does it relate to hating someone who happens to be non-Muslim
simply by virtue of their being non-Muslim. Instead the Quran speaks
of disliking those who cause harm to the Muslims, and by implication
those who are under protection of the Muslim communities e.g. should
someone harm a Christian living in Pakistan, whoever that person may
be, Muslim or other, the obligation as a Muslim is to seek justice
for that Christian, anything short of this is tantamount to a
rejection of the Islamic faith. Consider that the standards of
justice within the Muslim community are spoken of in high terms. A
non-Muslims living amongst Muslims may be likened to being our guest
and as our guest has the right to be treated with the honor, and
dignity a guest deserves.

"In the name of God, in whose authority I place my trust" began the
Prophet, "Not a single person has faith until they want for someone
else what they want for themselves" [Bukhari and Muslim] This is the
truth.

Those who act with impunity in this world, your accountability rests
with your Creator. The day you disregard the rights of others to live
in peace, is a day you should fear, for none can escape
accountability by God Almighty, and not a single one of us will
escape being raised on the day over which there is no doubt, the Day
of Judgment.

May Allah Almighty have mercy and guide you, me, and everyone else,
to seek the values of honesty, integrity, fairness and justice in all
that we do, Ameen.

In the protection of God, peace be upon you.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Mosque in Australia to get police guard for bikini rally

2006-12-04 Thread Showkat Ali
Mosque in Australia to get police guard for bikini rally

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/mosque-to-get-police-guard-for-bikini-rally/2006/12/02/1164777846230.html

POLICE have been asked to protect Australia's largest mosque next weekend
because of concerns that a bikini march staged to coincide with the anniversary
of the Cronulla riots may get out of control.

The caretaker of Lakemba Mosque, the Lebanese Muslim Association, says it is
taking no risks, requesting at least 32 police officers to protect the place of
worship on Saturday and Sunday.

Association president Tom Zreik said he met police on several occasions to
ensure there would be adequate numbers of officers present to defuse problems
and arrest troublemakers.

"We are treating this as something that is funny and hilarious but also
taking precautions," Mr Zreika said of the bikini march. "Some people may see
this as provocation and the last thing that we want is to see anyone being
attacked."

The organiser, Melbourne grandmother Christine Hawkins, has asked women
nationally to dress in bikinis and colourful beachwear and rally outside large
mosques to show their disgust at comments by leading Muslim cleric, Sheik Taj
el-Din al Hilaly, who likened women to "uncovered meat".

A white supremacist website has promoted the march. Members of Sydney's
Muslim community began raising their concerns last week, with hundreds joining
an internet discussion to find a "peaceful avenue" to protect their mosque.

Many Muslim women suggested joining the march in their hijabs and burqas to
voice their outrage at comments made by Senator Bronwyn Bishop and Prime
Minister John Howard about the way they dress. "We're really asking people not
to bother coming to the mosque," Mr Zreika said.

"All this is doing is degrading women and giving men a great excuse to have a
perv. There are better ways women can express their concerns."In Cronulla
yesterday members of the Lakembaroos sports club attended a barbecue at North
Cronulla Surf Club to mark the progress of more than 20 Muslim lifesavers, who
are training for their bronze medallions.
"If we didn't have the events of Cronulla last December in the back of our
minds, we wouldn't even be conscious that the people here were of Lebanese
background," Community Relations Commission chairman Stepan Kerkyasharian said.
"They look Australian, they are taking part in an Australian activity and you
have to ask 'what's the problem?"'

The training is an initiative of Surf Life Saving Australia.

  Comment

Do these people not understand the meaning of civilised behaviour and
protest? By protesting in such a manner they are showing the fallacy of freedom
which allows such behaviour to exist and also showing their moral bankruptcy.

Do they expect anyone to take them seriously? What is more shocking is that
the organiser is a grand mother who surely should be teaching her children and
grand-children how to behave in a civilised manner rather than in a way
befitting animals.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] How to memorize the Holy Qur'aan?

How to memorize the Holy Qur'aan
  4/1/2004 8:52:00 AM GMT

  Question

Assalaamu 'Alaykum, please could you give me some advice on
memorsing the Quran such as techniques.

  Answer :

  Praise be to Allaah.

Important rules for memorizing the Holy Qur'aan.

Sincerity. It is essential to have a pure and sincere
intention and a proper aim. One should learn the Qur'aan and pay attention to
it for the sake of Allaah and attaining Paradise and earning the pleasure of
Allaah. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "So worship Allaah (Alone)
by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allaah's sake only. Surely, the religion
(i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allaah only" [al-Zumar 39:2-3].
According to a hadeeth qudsi, Allaah says: "I am so self-sufficient that I am
in no need of having an associate. Thus he who does an action for the sake of
someone else as well as for My sake will have that action rejected by Me to the
one whom he associated with Me." So there will be no reward for the one who
reads and memorizes Qur'aan for the sake of showing off or gaining a good
reputation.

Correct pronunciation and reading. This can only be learned
by listening to someone who reads well or has memorized properly. The Qur'aan
can only be learned from a teacher. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him) learnt it orally from Jibreel, and the Sahaabah learned it orally
from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Then it was
passed down orally from the Sahaabah to succeeding generations of this Ummah.

Deciding the amount to be memorized each time. The one who
wants to learn the Qur'aam should decide how much he wants to memorize each
time. After he has set out his objective and learned the correct pronunciation,
he has to keep on repeating it over and over. This repetition should be with
the proper intonation so as to avoid getting bored and so that he can memorize
it properly. The intonation makes a person enjoy listening to it, helps him to
memorize it and makes the tongue get used to that intonation, so that he will
spot mistakes immediately, as the rhythm will be interrupted. This is in
addition to the fact that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him) said, "He is not one of us who does not recite the Qur'aan with a rhythmic
intonation." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari).

Not going beyond what one has decided to learn in one day
until one has memorized it perfectly. The haafiz should never move on to a new
portion until he has perfectly memorized the prvious portion , so that it will
stick in his mind. One thing that will help the student to memorize it is to
preoccupy himself with it night and day, by reciting it in the prayers where
Qur'aan is to be recited silently, and if he is leading others in prayer, by
reciting it out loud. He can also recite it during his naafil prayers, and
whilst waiting for (congregational) prayers. In this way it will become easy
for him to memorize Qur'aan. Everyone can do this, even if he is busy with
other things.

Adhering to one style of writing in the Mus-haf you use for
memorizing. One thing that will help in memorizing Qur'aan is to have one's own
copy of the Mus-haf (i.e., choosing a specific edition) and never changing it.
This is because people learn as much by looking as by listening, so the pattern
of the verses and where they appear on the pages of the Mus-haf stays in the
mind as one reads and looks at the Mus-haf. So if a person changes the Mus-haf
from which he is learning, or he learns from various Masaahif where the
relative positions of the aayaat may vary, he will get confused and it will be
difficult for him to memorize.

Understanding is the key to memorization. One of the things
which is of the greatest help in memorizing is understanding the verses one is
learning and knowing how they are connected to one another. This means that the
haafiz has to read the tafseer of some of the aayahs and soorahs which he is
memorizing and he has to focus his mind when he is reading. This will help him
to remember the verses. But when he is committing the verses to memory, he
should rely on understanding; what he has to do is rely on repetition so that
it will be easy for him to memorize them.

Not moving on until one has learned a soorah well. After
having memorized one soorah, the haafiz should not move on to another soorah
until he has memorized the first soorah perfectly from beginning to end and he
can recite it fluently without having to think too hard about it. Remembering
it should be easy, and he should not move on to another soorah until he is sure

IT turns out we’ve been reading the wrong Bob Woodward book to understand
what’s going on with President Bush. The text we should be consulting instead
is “The Final Days,” the Woodward-Bernstein account of Richard Nixon talking to
the portraits on the White House walls while Watergate demolished his
presidency. As Mr. Bush has ricocheted from Vietnam to Latvia to Jordan in
recent weeks, we’ve witnessed the troubling behavior of a president who isn’t
merely in a state of denial but is completely untethered from reality. It’s not
that he can’t handle the truth about Iraq. He doesn’t know what the truth is.

The Prophet's Methods for Correcting People's Mistakes

English Translation

Book by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

Introduction

Points to be noted when dealing with mistakes

The Prophet's methods of dealing with people's mistakes

Conclusion

Introduction

Bismillaah il-Rahmaan il-Raheem

In the Name of Allaah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Praise be to Allaah, Lord of the Worlds, Master of the Day of Judgement, God of
the first and the last, Sustainer of heaven and earth, and peace and blessings
be upon His trustworthy Prophet, the Teacher of mankind, sent as a Mercy to the
worlds.

Teaching people is one of the greatest good deeds whose benefits spread to
others. It is the daiy'ahs' and educators' share of the heritage of the
Prophets and Messengers. "Allaah and the angels, and even the ant in its nest
and the whale in the sea will pray for the one who teaches people the ways of
good." (Reported by al-Tirmidhi; Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Ahmad Shaakir edn., no.
2685. Abu 'Eesa said, this is a saheeh ghareeb hasan hadeeth). There are
different types and ways of teaching, with different means and methods, one of
which is correcting mistakes. Correcting mistakes is a part of education; they
are like inseparable twins.

Dealing with and correcting mistakes is also a part of sincerity in religion
(naseehah) which is a duty on all Muslims. The connection between this and the
concept of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, which is also a
duty, is quite obvious (but we should note that the area of mistakes is broader
than the area of evil (munkar), so a mistake may or may not be evil as such).

Correcting mistakes also formed a part of the wahy (revelation) and the
methodology of the Qur'aan. The Qur'aan brought commands and prohibitions,
approvals and denunciations and correction of mistakes - even those on the part
of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). So it included
rebukes and pointing out of mistakes, for example (interpretation of the
meaning):

"(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

Because there came to him the blind man ['Abd-Allaah ibn Umm Maktoom, whilst he
was preaching to one or some of the chiefs of Quraysh],

But what could tell you that perchance he might become pure (from sins)?

Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him?

As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,

To him you attend;

What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are
only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allaah).

But as to him who came to you running, And is afraid (of Allaah and His
Punishment), Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another."
['Abasa 80:1-10]

"And remember when you (Muhammad) said to him (Zayd ibn Haarithah - the freed
slave of the Prophet) on whom Allaah has bestowed Grace (by guiding him to
Islam) and you (too) have done a favour (by freeing him), 'Keep your wife to
yourself and fear Allaah.' But you did hide in yourself (what Allaah had
already made known to you - i.e. that He will give her to you in marriage) that
which Allaah will make mainfest, you did fear the people whereas Allaah had a
better right that you should fear Him." [al-Ahzaab 33:38]

"Not for you (O Muhammad) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to
(pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the zaalimoon (polytheists,
disobedient, wrong-doers, etc.)." [Aal 'Imraan 3:128]

Qur'aan was also revealed to correct the mistakes of some of the Sahaabah in
some situations. When Haatib ibn Abi Balta'ah (may Allaah be pleased with him)
made the mistake of writing to the kuffaar of Quraysh and informing them of the
direction in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was
headed on a military campaign against them, Allaah revealed the words
(interpretation of the meaning):

"O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e., disbelievers
and polytheists, etc.) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they
have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth, and have driven out the
Messenger and yourselves (from your homeland) because you believe in Allaah
your Lord! If you have come forth to strive in My Cause and to seek My Good
Pleasure, (then take not these disbelievers and polytheists, etc., as your
friends). You show friendship to them in secret, while I am All-Aware of what
you conceal and what you reveal. And whosoever of you (Muslims) does that, then
indeed he has gone (far) astray, (away) from the Straight Path." [al-Mumtahinah
60:1]

Concerning the mistake made by the archers at the battle of Uhud, who left the
position where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had
commanded the
