Boycott Israel [IslamCity] So That You May Know One Another

2006-12-12 Thread saiyed shahbazi
Let us, for a moment, go back and listen in on an ancient and sacred
conversation: Behold, I am about to establish on earth one who shall inherit
it, said the Lord God to the angels. They replied: Will You place upon it
such as will spread corruption thereon and shed blood - whereas we extol Your
limitless glory, praise You, and hallow Your Name? Alas, it seems that our
reputation as human beings preceded our own creation. The Almighty replied:
Verily, I know that which you do not. In other words, the Lord God said, I
know what I am doing.

That conversation is recounted in the verse 2:30 of the Qur'an, and it
highlights the purpose of the creation of humankind: to be the inheritors of
the earth, God's vicegerents, His representatives. As such, we have a
tremendous responsibility placed upon us by the Lord God.

As Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl, Professor of Islamic law at UCLA, writes: The
Qur'an describes the moment of creation as the moment in which humanity was
entrusted with a heavy responsibility... God made human beings God's agents or
viceroys on the earth and entrusted them with the responsibility to civilize
the land.Yet, what does civilizing the land mean exactly? Dr. Abou El Fadl
continues:

Civilizing the earth does not mean constructing buildings or paving roads. It
means striving to spread on the earth the Divine attributes such as justice,
mercy, compassion, goodness, and beauty. In doing so, human beings spread
Divinity itself upon the earth. In contrast, corrupting the earth - spreading
violence, hatred, vengeance, and ugliness - means failure in discharging one's
obligations toward God. The Qur'an teaches that the act of destroying or
spreading ruin on this earth is one of the gravest sins possible - fasad fi
al-ard - which means to corrupt the earth by destroying the beauty of creation,
is considered an ultimate act of blasphemy against God.

Indeed, the Qur'an speaks harshly of those who spread corruption on the earth:
...none does He cause thereby to go astray save the iniquitous, who break
their bond with God after it has been established [in their nature] and cut
asunder what God has bidden to be joined, and spread corruption on earth: these
it is that shall be the losers. [Qur'an 2:26-27]Elsewhere, God says: Now
there is a kind of man whose views on the life of this world may please thee
greatly, and [the more so as] he cites God as witness to what is in his heart
and is, moreover, exceedingly skillful in argument. But whenever he prevails,
he goes about the earth spreading corruption and destroying [man's] tilth and
progeny: and God does not love corruption. [Qur'an 2:204-205]Thus, our job as
human beings is to civilize the earth: to spread justice, mercy, compassion,
love, and beauty over all of the earth and its creatures. And this
responsibility falls upon all human beings. Herein lies a
problem: what of people of other faiths? How do we deal with those who are not
Muslim? Are we - as many are wont to believe - hopelessly locked in a clash of
civilizations between the West and Islam? Are we doomed never to work together?

Quite the opposite. In fact, Dr. Samuel Huntington, the originator of the
much-touted clash of civilizations theory, recently decried the misuse of his
theory by politicians and pundits. In an interview with Islamica Magazine, Dr.
Huntington said: I think it is a mistake, let me just repeat, to think in
terms of two homogeneous sides starkly confronting each other. Global politics
remains extremely complex and countries have different interests, which will
also lead them to make what might seem as rather bizarre friends and allies.
When asked whether his thesis has been used by people for their own agendas, he
replied: Oh absolutely, all the time. There isn't much I can do about that.

Indeed, the Qur'an anticipates the fact that there will be a plurality of
religious communities on the earth, a fact which does not threaten it. Numerous
verses speak about this: Unto every one of you have We appointed a
[different] law and way of life. And if God had so willed, He could surely have
made you all one single community: but [He willed it otherwise] in order to
test you by means of what He has vouchsafed unto you ... [Qur'an 5:48]

Have, then, they who have attained to faith not yet come to know that, had God
so willed, He would indeed have guided all mankind aright? [Qur'an 13:31]

And [because He is your Creator], it rests with God alone to show you the
right path: yet there is [many a one] who swerves from it. However, had He so
willed, He would have guided you all aright. [Qur'an 16:9]

For had God so willed, He could surely have made you all one single community;
however, He lets go astray that wills [to go astray], and guides aright him
that wills [to be guided]; and you will surely be called to account for all
that you ever did! [Qur'an 16:93]

If it had been your Lord's will, they all would have

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] The Prophet's Methods for Correcting People's Mistakes

2006-12-12 Thread Mohd Khaja
The Prophet's Methods for Correcting People's Mistakes

Book by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

Here we may note the following points:

* The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to
them and addressed them directly; when he wanted to teach all the
people, he did not refer to them by name or expose them, he merely said,
What is the matter with some people...? In this way he was gentle with
them and covered up for them whilst at the same time acting in the
common interest by teaching everybody.
* The hadeeth describes finding out about the action of good
people and seeking to emulate them. Investigating such things is the
sign of a sound mind and efforts to improve oneself.
* This report indicates that when it comes to useful matters of
religion, if it is not possible to learn them from men, it is
permissible to learn them from women.
* There is nothing wrong with a person talking about his deeds so
long as there is no element of showing off and it is for the benefit of
others.
* We also learn that going to extremes in worship may cause a
person to get bored, which in turn could lead him to stop worshipping
altogether; the best of things are those that are moderate. (see
al-Fath, 9/104).
* Mistakes generally come about as a result of misconceptions; if
the ideas are put right, mistakes will decrease. It is clear from the
hadeeth that the reason why those Sahaabah adopted those concepts of
extreme worship and monasticism was that they thought they had to go
beyond the Prophet's actions in worship in order to attain salvation,
because he had been told that all his sins were forgiven, but they did
not have this advantage. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) set them straight, and told them that even though he was
forgiven, he was the most fearing of Allaah among mankind, and he
commanded them to follow his Sunnah in worship.

A similar thing happened to another Sahaabi, whose name was Kahmas
al-Hilaali (may Allaah be pleased with him), who narrated his story: I
became Muslim and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) and told him that I had become Muslim. I stayed away for a
year, during which I became very skinny, and when I came back, he looked
me up and down. I said, 'Do you not know me?' he said, 'Who are you?' I
said, 'I am Kahmas al-Hilaali.' He said, 'What happened to you?' I said,
'After I saw you, I never spent a day without fasting, and I never slept
at night.' He said, 'Who told you to torture yourself? Fast the month of
patience [i.e., Ramadaan], and one day of every month besides that.' I
said, 'Let me do more.' He said, 'Fast the month of patience and two
days of every month besides that.' I said, 'Let me do more, I am able
for it.' He said, 'Fast the month of patience and three days of every
month besides that.' (Musnad al-Tayaalisi. Reported by al-Tabaraani in
al-Kabeer, 19/194, no. 435. Also in al-Silsilat al-Saheehah, no. 2623).

Some misconceptions may be based on how one judges people and regards
them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was very
keen to correct this and put people straight in this regard. In Saheeh
al-Bukhaari, there is a report from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Saa'idi who said:
A man passed by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him), who asked a man sitting by him, 'What do you think of this
man?' He said, 'He is one of the noblest of the people. By Allaah, if he
proposes marriage he deserves to be accepted and if he intercedes he
deserves to have his intercession accepted.' The Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said nothing. Then another
man passed by and the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him) asked the man with him, 'What do you think of him?' The man
said, 'O Messenger of Allaah, he is one of the poor Muslims. If he
proposes marriage he does not deserve to be accepted, if he intercedes
he does not deserve to have his intercession accepted, and if he speaks
he does not deserve to be heard. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'This man is better than an earth
full of men like the other man.' (al-Fath, 6447).

According to a report narrated by Ibn Maajah: a man passed by the
Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said (to his
Companions), What do you think of this man? They said, We think that
he is one of the noblest of people. If he proposes marriage he deserves
to be accepted, if he intercedes he deserves to have his intercession
accepted, and if he speaks he deserves to be heard. The Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said nothing. Another man passed by
and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked, What
do you think of this man? They said, By Allaah, O Messenger of Allaah,
he is one of the poor

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Reward for memorizing Qur'aan

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalam-u-Aliekum Wa-Rahmatu Allah-i Wa-Barakatuh !

Reward for memorizing Qur'aan

Question: What is the reward for becoming a Haafiz?.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Whoever memorizes Qur'aan and acts upon it, Allaah will reward him
and honour him greatly for that, so that he will rise in status in Paradise to
a level commensurate with what he memorized of the Book of Allaah.

Al-Tirmidhi (2914) and Abu Dawood (1464) narrated from `Abd-Allaah
ibn `Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: It
will be said to the companion of the Qur'aan: Recite and rise in status, recite
as you used to recite in the world, for your status will be at the last verse
that you recite. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in
al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 5/218, no. 2240, after which he said:

Note that what is meant by the companion of the Qur'aan is the
one who memorizes it by heart, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) said, The one who knows more Qur'aan should lead the people in
prayer, meaning the one who has memorized the most. The differentiation in
status in Paradise will depend on how much was memorized in this world, not how
much one will recite on that day as some people imagine. This clearly points to
the virtue of the hafiz who has memorized the Qur'aan, but that is subject to
the condition that he memorizes it for the sake of Allaah, not for worldly
purposes or financial gain. Otherwise the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) said: Most of the hypocrites of my ummah are among those
who have memorized Qur'aan.

Concerning the virtue of the hafiz who memorizes the Qur'aan,
al-Bukhaari (4937) narrated from `Aa'ishah that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The likeness of the one who reads
Qur'aan and memorizes it is that he is with the righteous honourable scribes.
The likeness of the one who reads it and tries hard to memorize it even though
it is difficult for him, he will have two rewards.

For the hafiz who has memorized the Qur'aan, praying qiyaam al-layl
is easy. And the Qur'aan will intercede for him on the Day of Resurrection,
because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Fasting
and the Qur'aan will intercede for a person on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting
will say, `O Lord, I deprived him of food and desires during the day, so let me
intercede for him.' The Qur'aan will say, `O Lord I deprived him of his sleep
at night, so let me intercede for him.' Then they will both intercede for him.
Narrated by Ahmad, al-Tabaraani and al-Haakim; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani
in Saheeh al-Jaami', no. 3882

And Allaah knows best.

It should be noted here that there is a weak (da'eef) hadeeth that
is quoted concerning the virtue of memorizing Qur'aan. This hadeeth says, The
bearer of the Qur'aan, if he regards what it permits as halaal and what it
forbids as haraam, he will intercede for ten of his family members on the Day
of Resurrection, all of whom deserved to enter Hell. This was narrated by
al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Eemaan (The Branches of Faith) from Jaabir; it was
classed as da'eef by al-Albaani in Da'eef al-Jaami'.

against innocent people in Ishaqi.

The occupation forces besieged the homes of brothers Mohammed Hussein
Jalmood and Mahmoud Hussein Jalmood, opened fire on members of the two
families in the early hours today, to cover up the crime they air
bombed the houses.

People of the area who rushed to the crime scene and removed the
bodies from the rubble found that all victims had been shot at close

About 32 martyrs were targeted by the American forces intentionally
among them 6 children and 8 women.

People of the BookFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  The term People of the Book (Hebrew #1506;#1501;
#1492;#1505;#1508;#1512;, Am HaSefer) is used in Judaism where it refers
specifically to the Jewish people and the Torah.

  The People of the Book (Arabic: #1571;#1607;#1604;
#1575;#1604;#1603;#1578;#1575;#1576;#8206; Ahl al- Kitâb) is a term in
Islam for peoples who, according to the Qur'an, have received divine scriptures
— generally interpreted to refer to the Tawrat (the Torah) and Injil (the
Gospel).

  Application of term in Islam

In Islam, the term applies to monotheistic Abrahamic religions older than
Islam which received revelation(s) (hence book) from God. To orthodox Muslims
this includes at least all Christians, Jews (including Karaites and
Samaritans), and Sabians (identified with Mandaeans). Many early scholars
such as Malik Ibn Anas agree in also including Zoroastrians, while some have
argued for extending the concept further. There is a verse in the Qur'an that
says, Those who follow the Jewish and the Sabi'een, Christians, Magians and
Polythesists — Allah will judge them On the Day of Judgement: Quran 22:17. The
Magians were in fact followers of Zoroastrianism and because they are
specifically mentioned alongside other people of the book and before
polytheists this may mean that Zoroastrians are People of the Book. Although
Baha'is follow a revealed, scriptural religion, their faith developed after the
advent of Islam, so while they accept Muhammad, they are not categorizable into
the traditional dhimmi grouping (of pre-Islamic Faiths), but are instead
believed to be subject to the fate of Dar al Harb--the pagan world--and have
been badly persecuted by Muslim regimes, most notably Iran.

Qur'an There are many statements in the Qur'an that promote tolerance
towards People of The Book. For example:

And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best,
except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has
been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and
to Him do we submit. 29:46
There are also many statements that promote an adversarial relationship. For
example:

Fight those who believe not in God nor the Last Day, nor hold forbidden that
which hath been forbidden by God and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the
religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay
the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. 9:29

O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for
friends/protecters; they are friends/protecters of each other; and whoever
amongst you takes them for a friend/protecter, then surely he is one of them;
surely God does not guide the unjust people. 5:51

And ye know of those of you who broke the Sabbath, how We said unto them: Be
ye apes, despised and hated! 2:65

And whoso seeketh as religion other than the Surrender (to God) it will not
be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the Hereafter. 3:85
In other places the Qur'an says:

Not all of them are alike; a party of the people of the Scripture stand for
the right, they recite the Verses of God during the hours of the night,
prostrating themselves in prayer. They believe in God and the Last Day; they
enjoin Al-Ma'rûf and forbid Al-Munkar ; and they hasten in (all) good works;
and they are among the righteous. And whatever good they do, nothing will be
rejected of them; for God knows well those who are Al-Muttaqûn .(3:113-115)

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and
Christians), those who believe in God and in that which has been revealed to
you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before
God. They do not sell the Verses of God for a little price, for them is a
reward with their Lord. Surely, God is Swift in account. '(3:199)'

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and
Sabians, whoever believes in God and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds
shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall
they grieve . 2:62

Say (O Muhammad ): O people of the Scripture : Come to a word that is just
between us and you, that we worship none but God, and that we associate no
partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides God.
3:64
Throughout Islamic history, Muslims have used these ayah (verses) to justify
a variety of positions towards non-Muslims. In some places and times, Muslims
showed a great deal of tolerance towards non-Muslims; in other places and times
non-Muslims were treated as enemies and persecuted. Islamic law demands that
Muslims treat Jews and Christians as dhimmis, second-class protected citizens
who have a limited number of rights.

How Many More Will Die For Bush's Ego?

Are the American people, Congress, and the American Establishment going to let
the death toll continue to mount day by day

for the two more years it takes for Bush to become history?

By Paul Craig Roberts

12/09/06 Information Clearing House -- -- Last July in response to
Bush-the-Evil's enabling of Israel's gratuitous slaughter of thousands of
Lebanese civilians and destruction of the country's infrastructure, I wrote
about the shame of being an American. With the ongoing slaughter of our
troops and Iraqi civilians in Bush's war in Iraq, it is time to revisit that
theme.

As the Iraqi civil war (euphemistically termed sectarian violence)
intensifies, both US and Iraqi casualties have sharply increased. Thirty-five
US troops have been killed in the first week of December. Iraqis are dying at
each other's hands at about 100 per day, with many more wounded by bombs.

Iraqi civilians continue to suffer at the hands of the US military, with the
latest news being a US air strike that wiped out two families totaling 32
people.

The report from the bipartisan Iraq Study Group has made it plain as day that
the US is accomplishing nothing in Iraq except the destabilization of the
entire Middle East. As Middle East expert Anthony Sullivan writes in The
National Interest, the ISG report constitutes a massive repudiation of the
policy of the Bush Administration. The war is lost and cannot be retrieved
militarily. Staying the course is the path of total folly.

Yet, the White House Moron says that it is better for 100 US troops and 3,000
Iraqi civilians to die every month than for him to admit that he is wrong.

To date the cost of Bush being wrong is 25,000 US casualties (dead and wounded)
and approximately 650,000 dead Iraqis. No one knows how many have been wounded.
How many more will die before America drowns in the shame of the blood that is
being shed for no other reason than the American people were so stupid as to
elect a president who cannot admit that he made a mistake? The same stupid
American people elected a Congress that is too corrupt to impeach a president
who is a liar, a war criminal, and a tyrant. Instead, they are prepared to let
Bush off with a mere mistake, a courtesy denied to President Clinton. Lying
about sex is an impeachable offense. Lying about war is a mere mistake.

Are the American people, Congress, and the American Establishment going to let
the death toll continue to mount day by day for the two more years it takes for
Bush to become history?

How do America's military families feel about the loss of loved ones for no
reason except President Bush cannot admit a mistake?

How do the troops themselves feel about it? On December 8, a US Marine who has
spent 7 months fighting insurgents in Anbar province answered this question on
lewrockwell.com as follows: I'm sick and tired of this patriotic,
nationalistic and fascist crap. . . . How do you justify 'sacrificing' your
life for a war which is not only illegal, but is being prosecuted to the extent
where the only thing keeping us there is one man's power, and his ego. US
Marine Philip Martin says he joined the Marines to protect the US Constitution,
not to serve as an imperialist storm trooper.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard talking heads worrying about Bush's
comfort level with the Iraqi Study Group's unanimous report. Bush's comfort
level? What about the comfort level of the Iraqis and Americans who are losing
family members while idiot talking heads worry about Bush's comfort level with
the facts!

Try to imagine the impression the US gives to the rest of the world: The US
cannot stop a war that is a catastrophe becoming a calamity because it would
interfere with Bush's comfort level.

This disastrous war is a testament to the irresponsibility of the American
people and their elected representatives. There were, of course, many
dissenters. But the majority were too lazy and irresponsible to take the
trouble to be informed. Most Americans allowed themselves to be deceived and
emotionally manipulated. The consequence of this failure of the American people
has been brutal for countless people and their families in Iraq, Afghanistan
and Lebanon and for the thousands of American families who have suffered
because Bush sent US troops on a fool's mission. The American people are
stained with the blood of innocents. Are they still not sufficiently angry with
the president who used them for his crimes to demand his impeachment?

As long as Bush remains in office, the neoconservatives will demand more wars.
In the current issue of Foreign Policy, neocon Joshua Muravchik stridently
insists that Bush bomb Iran before he leaves office. Muracvchik urges his
fellow neocon warmongers to pave the way for the bombing of Iran and to be
prepared to defend the action when it comes.

As Middle East expert Anthony Sullivan writes, the

Join the British Army and become a martyr, say Muslims

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/articl...2496507,00.html

ABUL TAHER

A GOVERNMENT-BACKED Islamic organisation is teaching young Muslims that dying
while fighting for the British armed forces is an act of martyrdom.
The British Muslim Forum (BMF) explains to young people that even if a Muslim
soldier dies in combat while fighting in an Islamic country such as
Afghanistan, he will still be regarded as a martyr and a hero for this country.

The BMF is holding talks across Britain to persuade young people not to follow
the teachings of Muslim extremists who instruct their followers that joining
the British military is a “traitorous act”.

Its aim is to counter radicals’ misuse of the term “martyr”, which has become
associated with terrorist suicide operations. The BMF was a leading member in a
taskforce set up by Tony Blair after the July 7 bombings to combat extremism
among Muslims.

In its forums its case workers and imams cite Lance-Corporal Jabron Hashmi, 24,
a British Pakistani from Birmingham who was killed in combat in July in
Afghanistan.

Islamic extremists have called him a “salaried traitor” as he died fighting
Taliban Muslims at the command of non-Muslim generals. They argue he should not
have received an Islamic burial as he died an “infidel”.

However, BMF case workers counter that he died a martyr. “We are calling him a
martyr because he died fighting for his country. Islam teaches us to be loyal
and abide by the laws of the land. We believe fighting for Britain is not being
a traitor. And young people are getting the message,” said Khurshid Ahmed, the
BMF’s chairman.

The BMF, a body representing 600 mosques, is one of Britain’s largest Muslim
organisations. It is the government’s main working partner in the Muslim
community.

Comment:

How nice to see that this organisation will not have their funding cut by the
Government due to promoting the integrationist agenda. Re-defining the Islamic
term martyr and giving it a completely different meaning will eventually lead
to re-writing the Quran and the changing of Islam to fit in with society today.

Christianity in the past and today is going through such a phase where things
forbidden in the bible are now acceptable such as homosexuality, same sex
marriages and women priests.

Will we see such things in Islam? Nawuzubillah, I hear u say, but if
organisations like BMF (Blair’s Muslim Followers) have their way don’t be
surprised that martyr is the only Islamic term they re-define to please their
masters in Downing street.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Contribution of Muslims to the Modern World

2006-12-12 Thread Naveed

Assalamu Alaikum dear brethren in Faith!

Contribution of Muslims to the Modern World

Muslims have made immense contributions to almost all branches of the
sciences. Islam gave the world everything .After Islam, the world benefited in
all ways which we are all thinking as the contribution from Europe. Whatever
the historical books used by the Western world is all lies. All technology and
scientific discoveries came from Muslims. All the modern technology which is
found today is because of the works of Muslim scientists and scholars who lived
few centuries back.

Islam was once the biggest and advanced civilization of the World. Muslims
today do not know who their forefathers were. That is one of the reason why
they are not proud to be Muslims. They have lost their Islamic pride. Today
Muslims follow the Western Chritian world in anything they do. This should be
stopped. Muslims have a great culture and history to share with the rest of the
World.

Apart from religious knowledge, scholars of that day excelled in many other
areas like astronomy, mathematics, medicine and geography. Muslims were expert
in many fields. For example Al-Kindi was a philosopher, mathematician,
physicist, astronomer, physician, geographer and even an expert in music. It is
surprising that he made original contributions to all of these fields. On
account of his work he became known as the philosopher of the Arabs. Baghdad
was once the centre and capital of the Islamic world. It was filled with
mathematican, astronomers, scientists and many scholars. There were many
Scintists. Just to name some of them:

  1)Ibn an Nafis
2) Thabit ibn Qurra
3) Ibn Sina
4)Al-Kindi
5) Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi
6) Muhammad Zakariya ar-Razi
7) Ali Kushji
8) Al-Battani

  Islam and Mathematics

Mathematics was given to the world by Muslims. When Europe was sleeping,
Muslims had calculated the distance between the Earth and Moon.

Musa al-Khwarizmi (780--850 A.D.) a native of Khwarizm, who lived in the
reign of Mamun-ar-Rashid, was one of the greatest Mathematicians of all times.

He composed the oldest Islamic works on arithmetic and algebra which were the
principal source of knowledge on the subject for a fairly long time. George
Sarton pays glowing tribute to this outstanding Muslim mathematician and
considers him one of the greatest scientists of his race and the greatest of
his time.'

There were many other Mathematicans like Al-Nasavi, Al-Karkhi, Abu Zakariya
Muhammad Al-Hissar and Nasir-ud-din Toosi.

Khwarizmi has the distinction of being one of the founders of algebra who
developed this branch of science to an exceptionally high degree. He also gives
geometric solutions of quadratic equations, e.g., x2+10x=39 an equation which
was repeated by later mathematicians. Robert Chester was the first to translate
this book into Latin in 1145 A. D. which introduced Algebra into Europe.

Omar Khayyam, the celebrated poet, philosopher, astronomer and mathematician
has left behind an excellent book on algebra. His works on algebra were
translated in 1851, while his Ruhaiyat were first pubished in 1859.

  Islam and Medicine

Within a century after the death of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) the
Muslims not only conquered new lands, but also became scientific innovators
with originality and productivity.
Medicine, as it stands today, did not develop overnight.Major works in
medical history were contributed to the world by famous Muslilms Ibn Sina, ibn
Maimon, Ibn Rushd, Al –Razi, ibn Nafis and many more. The names of theses great
doctors were later latinezed and their works were translated into many
European language. Today in Europe, they are still learning from the original
works of Avicena, ibn Sina.

  Ibn Sina—Doctors of Doctors!

About 100 treatises were ascribed to Ibn Sina. Some of them are tracts of a
few pages, others are works extending through several volumes. The best-known
amongst them, and that to which Ibn Sina owed his European reputation, is his
14-volume The Canon of Medicine, which was a standard medical text in Western
Europe for seven centuries.

Ibn Sina is rarely remembered in the West today and his fundamental
contributions to Medicine and the European reawakening goes largely
unrecognised. However, in the museum at Bukhara, there are displays showing
many of his writings, surgical instruments from the period and paintings of
patients undergoing treatment. An impressive monument to the life and works of
the man who became known as the 'doctor of doctors' still stands outside
Bukhara museum and his portrait hangs in the Hall of the Faculty of Medicine in
the University of Paris.

  Hospitals

Hospitals as we know them now probably were not present at Europe. Muslims
first introduced the concepts of Hospital. The Caliphs of the Islamic empire

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Ar-Riba - not defined in the Qur'aan?

2006-12-12 Thread Mohammad Shafi
About seven years back, the Supreme Court of Pakistan pronounced a Judgment
on Interest - whether it (interest) is covered by the Qur'aanic prohibition
against Ar-Riba? The Judgment pronounced that it does cover.

On the panel of Judges, delivering the Court Judgment, was Maulana Justice
Muhammad Taqi Usmani, a prominent Islamic scholar of the Indian sun-continent.

In his section of the Judgment, the Maulana wrote:
...The Holy Qur'an did not give any definition for the term for the simple
reason that it was well known to its immediate audience. It is like the
prohibition of pork, liquor, gambling, adultery etc, which were imposed without
giving any hard and fast definition because all these terms were well known and
there was no ambiguity in their meaning. Similar was the case of riba
I am quoting verbatim above, from paragraph 36 of the Maulana's judgment
order. As Muslims, we should not get awed by the prominence enjoyed by any
person and should not treat his writings as absolutely sacrosanct. Rather, we
should check it with the Qur'aan, our Allah-given Criterion.

The Qur'aan was not revealed just for the people living at the time of its
revelation. It was revealed for all the people living at all times till the
Last Day. Therefore the scope of its verses cannot be restricted by the
conditions prevailing at the time of revelation or by the circumstances under
which those were revealed. And there has been no controversy at all as regards
the meanings of the Arabic words for pork, liquor. gambling and adultery ever
since the revelation of the Qur'aan. Therefore there was no need for giving any
special definitions for these words.

But that is not the case with riba. This Arabic word literally means
increase/growth/gain/profit. Obviously, Allah Ta'ala has not prohibited every
imaginable kind of increase etc. It ought to be only a particular kind that is
prohibited. There was therefore a crying need to define which kind. The
Qur'aanic Verse 30.39 does just that. It is therefore unfortunate for the
eminent Islamic scholar to hold that the 'Holy Qur'an did not give any
definition for the term.'

Let us now examine how Verse 30.39 defines the Qur'aanic term Ar-Riba that is
prohibited in the chronologically later revealed Verse 2.275, and also as to
what that divine definition is.

The Arabic text of the Verse is:

This is the first verse, in order of revelation, in the matter of Ar-Riba,
which later gets prohibited. As such, if the term needed any defining or
explaining, this verse would be the most appropriate one wherein to give it.
In the original Arabic text, the verse begins with the words Wa maa aataytum.
The plain literal translation of this phrase would be: 'And that which you
give'. The Arabic words immediately following this phrase are min riban. The
preposition min could have several meanings according to the context in which
it is used. Here it is used in the context of, or as a preposition to, the word
riban. The same preposition has been used again, in the latter part of the
verse, in the context of the word zakaatin.

There is no controversy as regards zakaat. The universally accepted meaning
of this word is 'charity'. The words min zakaatin may therefore naturally be
translated as 'in charity', 'by way of charity' or 'for charity'. And since the
Arabic preposition has been used in exactly the same fashion in the phrase Wa
maa aataytum min riban, it (the phrase) may be translated as 'And that which
you give in, by way of or for riba'.

It is to be noted that the word riba as used in this verse is without the
Arabic definite article al. And, in Verses subsequently revealed, it is used
with the article prefixed to it. It is also to be noted that it is Al-Riba
(pronounced as Ar-Riba) - and not Riba as such - that gets specifically
prohibited in verse 2.275.

In these circumstances, it is but natural to take the word riba used in verse
30.39 in its literal meaning of increase, growth, gain or profit. Allah Ta'ala,
in His infinite wisdom, has helped us in understanding the meaning of the word
thus by giving us its verb form yarbu undoubtedly meaning 'increase', later in
the very same verse.

And the context of the verse suggests that the phrase Wa maa aataytum min
riban may most appropriately be translated as 'And that which you give for
profit'. The entire first part of the Verse may thus be translated as, 'And
that which you give for profit so that it may increase in the wealth of the
people, it does not increase with Allah.'

Here, in unmistakable terms, Allah Ta'ala specifies the kind of
increase/profit that He abhors! He abhors - not all increases/profits, but -
only that kind, which is sought to be made by unjustly usurping, during
transactions, the wealth that should rightfully belong to other people. [As,
for example, a factory owner cutting down his expenses by paying less to his
workers in

IMAM SHAMIL --- A Great Warrior of Islam
Publication time: 9 December 2006, 21:14

Imam Shamil and Hadji Murad, little known in the West, loom large
in Russian jistory. Here is what Wikipedia says about them: Imam Shamil (1797 -
1871) was an Avar political and religious leader of the Muslim tribes of the
Northern Caucasus. He was a leader of anti-Russian resistance in the Caucasian
War and was the third Imam of Dagestan and Chechnya (1834-1859).Imam Shamil was
born in 1797 in the small village of Gimry, which is in current-day Dagestan.
His father was a free landlord, and this position allowed Shamil to study many
subjects, including Arabic and logic. Shamil established himself as a
well-respected and educated man among other Muslims of the Caucasus. He made a
pilgrimage or hajj to Mecca in 1828 and there he met Abdel Kadir, from whom he
learned guerrilla war tactics.
Shamil was born at a time when the Russian Empire was expanding
into the territories of the Ottoman Empire and Persia (see Russo-Persian War,
1804-13 and Russo-Turkish Wars). Supported by the Persian Shah, many Caucasian
tribes rebelled against Russian rule in what became known as the Caucasian War.
Some of the earlier leaders of Caucasian resistance were Sheikh Mansur, and
Ghazi Mollah. Shamil was actually childhood friends with Mollah, and would
become his disciple.
In 1834, Ghazi Mollah died at the battle of Ghimri, and Shamil took
his place as the premier leader of the Caucasian resistance. Shamil was
effective at uniting the many, frequently quarreling, Caucasian tribes to fight
against the Russians. He made effective use of guerrilla warfare tactics and
the resistance continued under his leadership until 1859. On August 25, 1859
Shamil and his family surrendered to Russian forces and were jailed in the
Dagestan aoul of Gunib.
After his capture, Shamil was sent to Saint Petersburg to meet the
Tsar, and then was exiled to Kaluga, then a small town near Moscow. In 1869 he
was given permission to retire to the holy city of Mecca, and he travelled
there through Istanbul. He died in Medina in 1871 while visiting the city, and
was buried the Jannatul Baqi which is also the site where many important
personalities from Islamic history are buried. His two sons (Cemaleddin and
Muhammed efi) became officers in the Russian army, while two other sons Shamil
continues to be revered in the Caucasus for his resistance to the Russians, and
is held up as a role-model by those leading the current fight against Russian
control of the region. The Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev is named after him.
Hadji Murad (18??-1853) was an important Caucasian leader during
the national resistance of the Caucasian peoples in 1711-1864 against the
Russian Empire's seizure of the region. Leo Tolstoy's posthumously published
novel Hadji Murad (1912) is a fictionalized account of Murad's struggle with
the Russian Empire.

Hadji Murad was born in a small oul named Tselmas, in the first
quarter of the 19th Century. He is a famous Caucasian hero, coming as second
only behind Shamil himself. Murad is ethnicly an Avar and war arguably among
the best marksmen of his time, having a reputation for not shooting twice at
the same target. Leo Tolstoy had written a masterpiece about him with the his
name Hadji Murad. Although his life was short and full of heroism, at first he
was actually on the Russian side (the historical enemy of his people and his
way of life. But later when Russians arrested him after one of his rivals set
him up for a crime he never did, his attitude changed against them. He was
being escorted by a troop detachment to exile, but Hadji Murad escaped by
jumping off a cliff with one of his captors whom he grabbed in the last second.
Hadji Murad was severely wounded from the fall (always cartying
the injury from the fall thorugh the rest of his life), while the Russian
soldier died instantly. He stayed at a nearby village and decided to join Imam
Shamil. He sent a letter to Shamil and asked to join him. Shamil gladly
accepted him (Shamil had asked for his help early on but was refused by Murad).
While fighting under Shamil, Hadji Murad performed many successful raids
against the Russian invasion forces. He also invented some totally new military
tactics to give a quite well known example; reversing the shoes of horses so
anyone who folled him went to the wrong direction. For some years the two great
warriors wrecked havoc and fear among Russian Army, causing many problems. This
partnership was not to be long. Some of the Shamil's naibs turned Shamil
against Hadji Murad because of their jealousy against Murad.
Shamil named his son as his successor, and this

Blaming Islam: Examining the Religion Building Enterprise
Louay Safi
Posted Dec 1, 2006

Blaming Islam for the lack of democratic and scientific developments in Muslim
countries is not a new idea but an old enterprise rooted in the nineteenth and
twentieth century European Orientalism. The late Edward Said succeeded, in the
1980s, in unmasking Orientalist notions within Western academia and exposing
its false pretense. In his seminal work, 'Orientalism', Said demonstrated that
Orientalist views of Islam were used to justify the European colonial ambitions
in the Muslim world. Said's monumental work was pivotal for the eventual
transformation of Middle Eastern studies in Europe and the United States, as it
forced the academia to embrace more scholarly and objective methods when
studying the Muslim world.

Specialists who were intent on presenting Islam and Muslims in a negative light
were unhappy with the positive portrayal, as were those who previously
considered their work to be objective. Many were particularly disturbed by the
rise of authentic voices that presented Islam as a vibrant religion, whose
followers share many of the values and concerns of the West. Led by Princeton
University historian, Bernard Lewis, they attempted to refute Said's work and
defend Orientalism. But Said's thesis was profound, and Orientalists never
fully recovered.

The September 11th terrorist attacks on mainland United States gave a new
momentum to the Orientalist spirit. Bernard Lewis once again led the effort to
revive Orientalist notions with the publishing of his 2002 book, What Went
Wrong? Western Impact and Middle Eastern Response. Using subtle arguments, he
indeed placed the blame on Islam and Islamic traditions for the failure of
Middle Eastern societies to develop and modernize like the West. Lewis' book
has since been followed by an avalanche of similar articles and publications,
mostly by neoconservative journalists and pundits, who reinforce Lewis' thesis
and even blaming Islam for the rise of terrorism as well as the rising tension
between the West and the Muslim world.

The blame game is led today by neoconservative pundits who often present Islam
as the new villain to be confronted by American military power. They have
consistently presented Muslims as incapable of democratic rule, and who espouse
values that are antithetical to world peace and religious tolerance.

To ensure that their views are not challenged by the academic community,
neoconservatives are working hard to undermine academic freedom by intimidating
scholars that present a balanced view of the Middle East. Martin Kramer's Ivory
Towers on Sand: The Failure of Middle Eastern Studies in America, a diatribe
against Middle East Studies in U.S. universities, and Daniel Pipes' Campus
Watch, an organization devoted to smearing professors critical of U.S. foreign
policy and Israeli's treatment of Palestinians, are two such examples. This
campaign is one that aims to intimidate free thinking on Middle East politics
and silence voices that challenge their perspective.

Although many of the anti-Islam writers and neoconservative pundits play on the
fear of the general public by publishing books for a general audience, others
have been done for policymakers under the cover of respected institutions and
think tanks, such as the American Enterprise Institute, the Heritage
Foundation, and the RAND Corporation. Readers should note that this activity
began in 1992 when Defense Department staffers I. Lewis Libby and Paul
Wolfowitz drafted the Defense Policy Guidance. and was followed more
discretely and in more depth in a report, Rebuilding America's Defenses,
published in 2000 by the Project for the New American Century.

The neoconservative attitudes of, and approach to, Islam and the Middle East is
well illustrated by a widely publicized report written by Cheryl Benard and
published by the RAND Corporation in late 2003 under the title Civil and
Democratic Islam. Like other neoconservatives, Benard blames the rise of
intolerance, anti-democratic tendencies, and terrorism on all Muslim
individuals and groups that closely adhere to Islamic values and practices.
RAND openly advocates religion building as the only way to counter terrorism
and anti-Americanism.

Religion building is an invitation to world powers to reform Islam. It is a
call for reinterpreting Islam and restructuring Muslim societies so as to
counter the rise of militancy in Muslim societies. There is no contention over
the need for reform, and the need for cultural and social reforms in Muslim
societies and communities is well articulated by Muslim intellectuals long
before Islam became the main focus of Western reporters and pundits. Indeed,

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Religion of the Capitalists

2006-12-12 Thread `..*Minahil *..`
Religion of the Capitalists
America is trying to introduce a new religion with their strong and
international media. A religion where Satan gives revelation to the owners of
large companies and rich people of the hegemonic system that is running the
world. The source of revelation is Satan and those that receive the revelation
and propagate the religion are the American and Israeli spy research centers
and think tanks. These colonization organizations perform two actions; they
present a unified religion and they explain the teachings of correct religions
in accordance with their goals and interests: increasing their domain. The
American Zionists have named Islam, holy war, and defending one’s land, women,
children, religion, and honor as terrorism and consider them as evil actions.
The Jewish Christians take on religion is that they consider enjoining the good
and forbidding the evil as well as advising one another as an unjust
interference into one’s personal business. The American British take on
religion is that they consider chastity and the holding back of pious and
believing men and women from corruption and unethical conduct as a type of
depression, a type of mental disorder, and a type of backwardness. The concepts
of independence in culture, politics, and economics does not have a meaning in
the new religion of those who worship the world, rather independence,
power-mongering, people after proofs, and people after building are praised. In
the new religion, the whole world must act in accordance to the culture,
economy, and politics of the headquarters of disbelief; New York and Tel Aviv.
If they don’t they will be charged with apostasy and then… Hence, everyone must
live in the cage built by America. Modern logic considers the term independence
as old and belonging to the Middle Ages. In the new religion, in shadows of
making an international economy, 80 percent of the worlds wealth and resources
must be in the hands of less than 20 percent of the worlds
population; in other words the Zionists. In the shadows of the international
Zionism, God is no longer the one worshiped on earth, the direction of prayer
is no longer Mecca, rather the American dollar, large companies, international
media, and large internet cites have been transformed into idols, gods, and the
direction of prayer. In the new definition of religion that America is
presenting to the Muslims, the teachings of jihad, martyrdom, enjoining the
good, forbidding the evil, spiritual and ethical traits, and forming an Islamic
government must be erased from the Quran. The verses that discuss the evilness,
the dividing tactics, and the instigating nature of the Jews and the deception
of the Christians over the Muslims must be erased from the Quran. In its place,
understanding, dialogue, de-escalation, unity with the modern world’s caravan,
unified thought, and a peaceful life in accordance to their understanding will
be taught. One of the first laws that they will
pass is laxity and negligince with the aggressive disbelievers and
polytheists. One of the important political strategies of the new religion,
according to the statements of the Jews and Christians, will be that they have
the right to any kind of military move or economic embargo against the Muslims
or the downtrodden. This will be legal, advanced, and humane. Therefore, in
farthest parts of the world they are gathering different types of weapons of
mass destruction and are building prisons, army barracks, bunkers, forts,
castles and torture dungeons. But, Muslims do not have any right to fight
against their invasion of Muslim land and if they do defend their religion,
women, children, or land they are introduced as violent, terrorists, and
backward. One of their acts of worship will be giving democracy to backward
nations. There is no problem in giving them democracy even though millions of
humans in Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Bosnia, Palestine, Panama, and
Vietnam are killed and are tortured by modern American tactics in Abu Gharayb
and Guntanamo until they accept western culture, civilization, progress, and
modernity. Examples of laws of the new religion are making, hording, and using
nuclear, microbe, and chemical weapons by England, America, and Israel. Also,
that there is no problem for them verbally and physically threaten the world
because they are spreading liberal democracy and western human rights. But,
Muslim countries gaining knowledge and modern technologies are a serious danger
to the world’s peace and are definitely forbidden and unforgivable. Another
rule of the new religion is that all of mankind must use the cultural and
propagation goods of Hollywood. The whole world must spend their lives in the
dirty, unethical internet sites and satellite channels and at the same time
they must thank their lords; they must look at them respectfully. Another
aspect of this religion is America’s

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Best of The Best - Part 1

BEST OF THE BEST

Have your ever wondered to yourself what it actually means to be
the best? When we are told that this is the best or that was the
greatest or this will bring the most benefit etc, have you ever thought
who on Earth gave such people/editors the authority to tell us that? In
an age when we have a plethora of Top 10 or Top 100 lists on everything
from cars to films, from foods to places, one wonders where is that list
that will really provide some benefit to us in this current short life
and the next everlasting one.

Below, from a choice of hundreds of narrations from our beloved
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) you can find 100 Ahadith, in no particular order
of merit, detailing ways on exactly how to become the best, how to have
the most excellent characteristics, what really will prove most
beneficial for us to know, what really are the greatest things to think
about and hope for and indeed, how to become the most beloved of people
to our Exalted Creator, Allah (Swt).

No more subjectivity, no more empty statements; just the divine
criteria of what really is the best as developed by the very best
himself, Muhammad al-Mustapha (salAllahu alayhi wasalam).

Take some time out (its not short!) to read them, memorize them,
and then see how many you can get done and how many of your friends and
relatives you can get involved in it too.

Dont be ordinary. Dont be common. Dont be average. Dont be a
chamcha. Be the best.

Sayyidina Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) told us:

1. The best of the Muslims is he from whose hand and
tongue the Muslims are safe. (Muslim).

2. The best of people are those with the most excellent
character. (at-Tabarani, Sahih).

3. The best of people are those that bring most benefit
to the rest of mankind. (Daraqutni, Hasan).

4. The best of people are those who are best in
fulfilling (rights). (Ibn Majah, Sahih).

5. The best of people during fitnah (trouble) is a man
who takes up the reins of his horse pursuing the enemies of Allah,
causing them fear yet they make him fearful too, or a man who secludes
himself in the desert fulfilling the rights of Allah upon him. (Hakim,
Sahih).

6. The best of mankind is my generation, then those that
follow them and then those that follow them. Then there shall come a
people after them who will become avaricious, who will love gluttony,
and who will give witness before they are asked for it. (at-Tirmidhi,
Sahih).

7. The best of people are those who live longest and
excel in their deeds, whereas the worst of people are those who live
longest and corrupt their deeds. (at-Tirmidhi, Sahih).

8. The best of women are those that please him (her
husband) when he sees her, obeys him when she is commanded, and who does
not secretly betray him with regards to herself and her money in that
which he dislikes. (Ahmad, Sahih).

9. The best of women are those that please you when you
see them, obey you when commended, and who safeguard themselves and your
money in your absence. (Tabrani, Sahih).

10. The best of marriages are the easiest ones. (abuDawud,
Sahih).

11. The best of your dates is the Borniyyu date; it expels
disease yet does not contain any disease itself. (Hakim, Hasan).

12.   The best of your garments are those which are white;
shroud your dead in them and clothe your living with them. The best of
that which you apply to your eyelids is antimony causing the eyelashes
to grow and sharpening the eyesight. (Ibn Hibban, Sahih).

13. The best quality of your religion is scruulousness.
(Hakim, sahih).

14. The best of your religion is that which is
easiest.(Ahmad, Sahih).

15. The best of the prayer lines for men are the first
rows, the worst being the final rows. The best of the prayer lines for
women are the final rows and the worst are the first rows. (Muslim).

16. The best prayers for women are those performed in the
most secluded parts of their houses. (Ibn khuzaymah, Sahih).

17. The best of you in Islam are those who are most
excellent in character as long as you deeply understand the religion.
(Ahmad, Sahih).

18. The best of you are the best of you in fulfilling
(rights). (Ahmad, Sahih).

19. The best of you are those who are best to their
families, and I am the best of you to my family. (at-Tirmidhi, Sahih).

20. The best of you are my generation, then those that
follow them and then those that follow them. Then there shall come
after them a people who will betray and be untrustworthy, will give
witness even though they have not been asked to, will make vows yet will
not fulfill them and obesity will appear amongst them. (Sahih
