Subject: Bismillah [IslamCity] O Indians.

O Indians ! Are you Patriotic or Nationalistic or Chauvinistic?

Patriot – a person who strongly supports his country and is prepared to defend
it.

Nationalist - a person having Patriotic feeling, often to an excessive degree,
belief in political independence for a particular country.

Chauvinist – a person displaying extreme or unreasonable support for his own
country, cause, group or sex.

I as an Indian, I love to be a Patriot. I support my country India , by being
loyal to my motherland. It is the land in which I took birth. I love my nation.
I love the people of India . I shall always work for the development of my
country, by developing its economic, social and political standards. I care for
my fellow brethren. I take immense pleasure to help my poor and needy people.
And I shall never let any enemy to work against the interest of my country. I
take pride to be a Patriot.

While, I say that I am a Patriot, I must also say that I don’t hate other
countries or other people. They are also our brothers in humanity. Their
nations are also to be respected and valued. I shall also work to have peace
with my neighboring nations. I don’t ever intend to harm my brothers in
humanity. I am a Patriot and a Peace lover.

I am also a Nationalist. I cannot tolerate the external forces to attack my
country. I always want my country to enjoy its freedom. I will also join my
country’s struggle for freedom at all levels. Establishing justice is my
fundamental objective.

I am never a Chauvinist. I cannot show unreasonable support to my country. If
my country makes a mistake, I will point out its mistake. It is only to correct
the flaws and make it flawless. I am a man who stands for justice, even if it
is against my own people.

Justice is the key for success. Justice is the way to peace. Justice keeps
things in balance.

Unfortunately, many people in India do not know the responsibility of being a
patriot. People scream their guts out to encourage the Indian cricket team on a
one day match. But, they hardly help their poor people who are in need of help.
Who really cares for the poor people who are suffering out of hunger? How many
of us want to help them?

The Indian masses celebrate the Independence Day and the Republic day in the
cities and also in the villages. From the Parliament hall to the local
government school, people hoist the Indian flags to commemorate the occasion.
But, it is the same Indians whose hearts are not united. The scenario in
colleges is devastating. Our younger generations are losing the sense of
Patriotism. The south Indian students rag their north Indian classmates. And
the North Indians rag the south Indians in the college. People’s hearts are not
united.

Some years back, the people of Karnataka beat up the Tamilians living in
Karnataka, on the pretext of the fight for water. The Indians are fighting for
water. Why can’t they solve the problem amicably with Law to take its course?

Recently the incident in Mumbai is an alarming incident. The Marathas, under
the leadership of Raj Thakarey beat up the Non-Marathas in public places. They
destroyed their cars and destroyed their offices. Where is Patriotism? Where is
Nationalism?
The uneducated masses driven by arrogant leaders are the negative catalysts for
the development of our country. Our country India ’s progress lies in the
checking of the anti-nationalistic forces. The foolish leaders, who provoke the
citizens to fight, and destroy the valuables, must be punished by the law. If
they are not punished, then we have failed to show our patriotism to our
victims who are our Indian brothers. If any person wants to establish peace in
India , then he must establish justice first. Peace and justice are
inter-linked. You cannot separate them.

Treat the people with equality. Destroy the discriminative forces. And that’s
the way to National Integrity. Destroy caste systems, racism and all such
things which work towards divisions. We must rise above the atmosphere which
curbs our potential strength. And we must work towards developing our standards
of living.

Let us reason and discuss about the problems and its practical remedies. Let’s
bring the facts and the figures on the paper and the pen. And let us work
towards our development.
Let us work towards Education, Medical facilities and more.
Let us destroy corruption, dowry, Aids, Racism and other evil prevailing now in
our Indian lands.

I want to be a Patriot.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Greenwood Institute in the News- Local mosque to begin offering series of educational courses

Local mosque to begin offering series of educational courses
By Mary E. O'Leary Register Topics Editor Mary E. O'Leary can be reached at
789-5731 or [EMAIL PROTECTED] com.

NEW HAVEN — A city mosque, which already has committed time and money to
improving the physical condition of its neighborhood, has put together an
educational component to reach out to Greater New Haven residents.

Jimmy Jones, an associate professor of world religions at Manhattanville
College in New York, said Masjid Al-Islam, which is in the Dwight neighborhood,
has started a joint venture with Cordoba University in Virginia to offer three
courses this month and in March.

The project will operate through the Greenwood Institute, which is named
for the Greenwood section of Dwight, where the mosque moved 13 years ago.

The purpose of the Greenwood Institute is to provide high quality,
intellectually rigorous educational programs about Arabic and Islam to the
broader community. Given the apparent lack of knowledge about Islam in the
general populace, this is a muchneeded effort, Jones said.

The first course, Islam 101, which is free and open to the public, will
focus on a general overview of the history and practice of Islam.

It runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the main downtown library, 133 Elm St. tonight,
Wednesday and Feb. 26, 27. Pre-registration is required by calling 376-1210 or
e-mailing thegreenwoodinstitu [EMAIL PROTECTED] com, as there are only 25
seats.

The instructors are Saifuddin Hasaan, Siraj Muhammad, Yusuf Samara and
Matiniah Yahya. Participants are advised to attend all four sessions.

Jones, who has taught at the college level for decades, said the institute
wants to be a source of information about Islam. It won't be confessional or
preachy, but rather it will be factual. He said the approach is academic,
rather than theological.

The other courses are: Culturally Specific Counseling: Muslims and
Introduction to the Arabic Language, which will be held at Linsly-Chittenden
Hall on High Street at Yale University.

Each course is 15 hours and runs 7 to 9 p.m. March 14; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 15; and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 15. The courses run
concurrently, cost $150 and count as certified educational units. To register,
call the same number at the institute.

Jones will teach the counseling course, while Sahmuddeen Harun, who has
taught Arabic at several colleges, including the University of Texas at Austin,
will teach the language course.

The mosque at 624 George St., across from the Hospital of Saint Raphael,
helped form a block watch a dozen years ago that is an active presence on the
street, while it has encouraged worshippers to move to the area. It also works
in tandem with the city to get blighted properties cleaned up.

Cordoba University in Virginia houses the Graduate School of Islamic and
Social Studies, where Jones also teaches and heads its Arabic immersion
program.

We see this as capacity building in terms of the community. We do these
(programs) on a regular basis. We just want to make them more accessible to
people, Jones said.

*The Delights of the People of Paradise: The Couches of the People of
Paradise*

   **

The palaces of Paradise have been prepared, and in their gardens are places
to sit and recline, beautiful couches of delightful colours and high beds
whose interiors are lined with silk brocade, let alone how magnificent their
outward appearance must be. There are cushions and splendid carpets laid out
in the most delightful fashion. Allah (swt) says:

Therein will be thrones raised high, And cups set at hand, and cushions set
in rows, and rich carpets [all spread out] *[88:13-16]*

They will recline [with ease] on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall
marry them to Houris [female fair ones] with wide lovely eyes. *[52:20]*

A multitude of those [foremost] will be from the first generations [who
embraced Islaam] and a few of those [foremost] will be from the later time
[generations]. [They will be] on thrones woven with gold and precious
stones, reclining thereon, face to face. *[56:13-16]*

This reclining on those thrones and couches will be one of the luxuries that
the people of Paradise will enjoy when they gather together, as Allah (swt)
says,

And we shall remove from their breasts any lurking sense of injury; [they
will be like] brothers [joyfully] facing each other on thrones [of
dignity]. *[15:47]*

Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses *[55:76]*

Reclining upon the couches lined with silk brocade *[55:54]*
