Glasses of Seeing Only Specialities
Nowadays it is a fashion and also a compulsion to wear glasses. So wear the
glasses of seeing only specialities. Nothing else should be visible. For
instance, when you wear red glasses, even something green will appear to be
red. So when coming into connection with everyone, adopt the vision of seeing
only their specialities and you will become special.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Give women a status that they have never enjoyed in any other religion

2008-08-09 Thread Shahid Khan
*

Give women a status that they have never enjoyed in any other religion**

*

**

**

AFTER marriage, the true Muslim adheres to the Islamic injunction to treat
his wife well. The Islamic recommendations concerning women, and the way in
which Islam encourages men to respect them, are nothing short of amazing.

Islam recommends men to treat women well, and gives them a status that they
have never enjoyed in any other religion. So we see the Prophet (peace be
upon him) admonishing all men:

Treat women kindly, for woman was created from a rib. The part of it that
is most bent is the top. If you try to straighten it you will break it, and
if you leave it alone it will remain bent. So treat women kindly. *(Bukhari
and Muslim)*

According to a report given by Bukhari and Muslim, the Prophet (peace be
upon him) said:

Woman is like a rib: if you try to straighten it you will break it, and if
you enjoy her (or your relationship with her), you will do so in spite of
her crookedness.

According to a report given by Muslim, the Prophet (peace be upon him) also
said:

Woman was created from a rib. She will never be straightforward and
consistent for you in any way. If you enjoy her (or your relationship with
her), you will do so in spite of her crookedness. If you try to straighten
her, you will break her, and her breaking is her divorce.

This description given by the Prophet (peace be upon him) eloquently
describes the reality and nature of woman. She will not remain consistent in
the way her husband may wish, but the Muslim husband must understand that
this is her nature, the way she has been created. He should not try to
straighten her in the way he feels is correct, but he should respect her
unique feminine nature and accept her the way Allah made her, complete with
the crookedness that means that she will not be as he wishes in some
aspects. If he insists on straightening her and moulding her to his wishes,
it will be like trying to straighten a bent rib: it will break in his hands,
and the breaking of a woman is divorce (i.e., the matter will end in
divorce).

When the Muslim husband truly follows this guidance of the Prophet (peace be
upon him), which is based on a deep understanding of the psychology and
nature of women, he will tolerate his wife's mistakes and turn a blind eye
to her faults, recognizing that these are part of her nature. Thus the
marital home will be safe and calm, free from shouting or arguments.

We may note that in the Hadith quoted above, the Prophet (peace be upon him)
started with the words Treat women kindly, then after analyzing the nature
of woman, he ended with the same words: Treat women kindly.

How great was the concern of the Prophet (peace be upon him) for women, and
how deep was his understanding of their psychology! Does the sincere Muslim
husband have any choice but to follow this guidance and put it into practice
at every moment?

The Prophet's concern for women reached such an extent that he did not
forget to remind Muslims to treat them kindly, in his farewell sermon
(khutbat hijjat al-wadaa) This is the khutbah in which the Prophet (peace be
upon him) reiterated the essential points of Islam, when he realized that
this was the last time he would stand and address the Muslims during Haj. He
did not omit to advise Muslims to treat women kindly, beginning his words
concerning women with a warning that is indicative of his care and concern:

...Interact with women kindly, for they are prisoners and you have no other
power over them than that, if they are guilty of open lewdness, then refuse
to share their beds, and beat them, but not severely, but if they return to
obedience, (then) seek not against them means of annoyance. You have rights
over your women and they have rights over you. Your right over them is that
they should not entertain at your hearth (or commit adultery with) anyone
whom you dislike, and not to allow into your home anyone whom you dislike,
and their right over you is that you should feed and clothe them well.

This is a good advice, in which every sincere Muslim husband recognizes the
wisdom of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in defining the rights and duties
of husband and wife in a framework of mercy and compassion towards women
which leaves no room for even thinking of oppressing or harming one's wife.

Bismillah [IslamCity] UN warning on India child health

2008-08-09 Thread Abhiyya

Sri Lanka - which has one of the longest running civil wars in the region -
has managed to cut down on child deaths by half since 1990 because it has
emphasised on health care, Unicef says
UN warning on India child health
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7542521.stm

Millions of children in India are malnourished
The world will fail to reach millennium development goals unless India improves
its record on health and child protection, a UN report says.
Unicef, the UN children's agency, says India is failing to provide basic
healthcare for its poorest children - despite robust economic growth.
India and China account for nearly a third of the world's child deaths, the
vast majority of them in India.
The country had 2.1m child deaths in 2006 - more than any other state.
The corresponding figure for China was more than 400,000.
Growing divide
The Unicef report examined the latest trends in child and maternal health in
Asia.
It said the region's robust economic growth had lifted millions out of poverty,
but deepening disparities between the rich and the poor had meant that health
care often failed to reach those at the very bottom.
It is a fundamental truth that unless India achieves major improvements in
health, nutrition, water and sanitation, education, gender equality and child
protection, global efforts to reach the millennium development goals (MDGs)
will fail, Unicef says in the State of Asia-Pacific's Children 2008 report.
The divide between rich and poor is rising at a troubling rate in the region,
the report says.
This is leaving vast numbers of mothers and children at risk of increasing
relative poverty.

Underweight babies are more likely to die than a healthy ones
Unicef recommends that both countries increase spending on public health by at
least two per cent while also involve communities in order to strengthen the
system.
Unicef says avoidable diseases like pneumonia and diarrhoea and a high rate of
malnutrition are the major causes of child death in the region.
The report says that in India one out of every three women is underweight
which puts them at risk of having low birth weight babies. These babies are 20
times more likely to die in infancy than healthy babies.
Experts say poverty, ignorance and poor feeding practices often result in high
rates of malnourished children.
Conflict
Rising global food prices in the last few months have also had an impact.
The report says the gender discrimination prevalent in South Asia ensures that
life expectancy of girls is lower than boys.
In Pakistan, boys are more likely to be immunised than girls and have better
access to health care, says Unicef.
Conflict also affects a child's chance of survival and Pakistan and Afghanistan
are two countries in the region where children have to struggle hard to
survive, the report says.
However, Sri Lanka - which has one of the longest running civil wars in the
region - has managed to cut down on child deaths by half since 1990 because it
has emphasised on health care, Unicef says.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Success of a Farmer

2008-08-09 Thread Al Islaah Publications

 Success of a farmer

There was a farmer who grew superior quality, award-winning corn in
his farm. Each year, he entered his corn in the state fair where it
won honors and prizes.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something
interesting about how he grew his corn. The reporter discovered that
the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbours.

How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbours
when they are entering corn in the competition with yours each year?
The reporter asked. Why brother ?

The farmer replied, Didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen grains
from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my
neighbours grow inferior, sub-standard and poor quality corn,
cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I
have to grow good corn, I must help my neighbours to grow good corns
too.

The farmer gave a superb insight into the connectedness of life. His
corn cannot improve unless his neighbours' corn also improves. So it
is in the other dimensions and areas of life !

Those who choose to be in harmony must help their neighbours and
colleagues to be at peace. Those who choose to live well must help
others live well too. The value of a life is measured by the lives it
touches...

Success does not happen in isolation; it is most often a participatory
and collective process. So share the good practices, ideas and new
knowledge with your family, friends, team members and neighbours and
all. As they say: Success breeds Success.

**

Abdullah ibn Umar(radhiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (peace
be upon him) said: “The best friend in the Sight of Allah is he who
is the well-wisher of his companions, and the best neighbour is one
who behaves best towards his neighbours.’ (Tirmidhi)

Bismillah [IslamCity] Mayoral Elections: What Are the Lessons

2008-08-09 Thread S A Hannan
Mayoral Elections In Bangladesh : What Are the Lessons

Mayoral elections were held in four cities and nine townships despite protest
from some major parties. The election was held under emergency .Even according
to election commission in most places honest candidates did not participate
generating question why it happened? Many winning mayoral candidates have
pending criminal cases against them .

As the result has been declared it shows that the mayoral candidate who won in
the cities was from Awami League but in wards supporters of other parties are
in the majority.

The question that has come out is whether the election represents the trend of
public opinion. No body can be sure because major parties like BNP and Jamaate
Islami did not take part in election officially, they did not set up candidate
, they did not campaign. Moreover no body is sure about the mind of the rural
vote which is eighty five percent of Bangladesh. The things may be very
different if all major parties join election and campaign .

In any event the result has galvanized Awami League because of its victory in
prime posts. It has also galvanized the four party alliance, consisting of BNP,
Jamaate Islami and two other parties , and it has also become more determined
now for a different reason, they do not want to down grade any longer the
strength of Awami League , want to devise new strategies for the coming
national election. We have to wait to know what will be the nature of the next
government.

Bismillah [IslamCity] The Sun of Mercy

2008-08-09 Thread adil naveed
The Sun of Mercy

When the sun (which is only a creation) in the sky can convert impurities to
fragrant flowers and is creating bread in the oven, then what will be the
condition of Allah’s sun of grace? When the rays of Allah’s mercy shine on the
evil thoughts in the heart, those thoughts are changed to the light of piety.
Allah does not require capability or a certificate for giving. Maulana Rumi ()
have said;

When Allah can grant filthy impurities such garments and Noor, then what will
He be able to give his pure servants. Jalalud-din Rumi () is at a loss of
vocabulary to express what bounties Allah grants those salikeen and murideen
and those who tread His path.
When the sun of Allah’s grace rises on people’s hearts, their evil character
changes to virtuous character. The love which was being sacrificed for decaying
corpses is now being sacrificed for Allah in prostration. That love is
expressed now by placing the head on the ground in prostration by saying,
“Subhana Rabbiyal A’la”. Honor belongs to the one who places his head at the
feet of the Creator of the head. He will have no difficulties.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Invitation to Houston Masjid Imams to Stop Forbidding Prayer

2008-08-09 Thread Curtis Sharif
l-Imran (The Family of Imran)

3:104
Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is
good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are
the ones to attain felicity.

Bismillah, As Salaam Alaikum, Brother Imams,

This
is an invitation to the Houston Masjid of Al-Islam / Mercy Community
Center Imams to stop forbidding prayer at, and  start permitting equal access
to, worship in Allah's
House of Worship,  in the same way it is permitted in Masjid Haram, The
Prophet's Mosque, and other masajids all over the world.
With
tomorrow's Jummah, you have the opportunity for you to end, or extend,
according to your will, the Houston Masjid's continuing,  decades long
practices, of dictatorial punishment, banishment and oppression of the
worship of Allah.

It would be a Mercy for you to relieve the ummah, of the  unnecessary
 burdens of these practices.

These are the same practices used against Prophet Muhammad and his ummah
(PBUT), by those who oppressed them, and their efforts to Worship Allah in
Peace, at the Kabbah.
Allah Gives the oppressed the Right to publically protest their oppression,
when private efforts to end it have been fruitless.
The Commands of Allah in the Holy Quran are clear, the  choice of whose path
you choose to follow is yours.  I pray for Allah to Guide you on the Right Path.

  Sura
96 6-19  Nay!  Indeed, man transgresses all bounds, considers himself
to be self-sufficient, although, surely towards your Rabb is his
return.  Have you seen the one who forbids Our
servant from offering Salah (prayer)?  Have you considered, if he was
on right guidance, or was enjoining true piety, why he would forbid
someone from prayer?  Have you considered, if he denies
the truth and turns away, what will happen?  Does he not know that
Allah is observing all things?  Nay!  Let him know that if he does not
stop, we will drag him by the forelock, a lying, sinful forelock.  So
let him call his supporters for help, We too shall call the guards of
hell to deal with him.  Nay!  Do not obey him!  Prostrate yourself and
bring yourself closer to your Rabb.
Sura 2-217  They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say:
Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver
is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to
deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its
members. Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter.

Peace, Brother Curtis Sharif

France accused over Rwanda genocide

Tue, 05 Aug 2008 19:59:29 GMT

French soldiers on patrol passing by ethnic Hutu
troops in 1994

French
troops were directly involved in Rwanda's 1994 genocide in which
800,000 people were massacred, Rwanda's justice ministry says.

It named 33 senior French military and political figures including
late president Francois Mitterrand (president from 1981 to 1995), two
former prime ministers Dominique de Villepin and Edouard Balladur of
direct involvement in the massacres from April to July 1994 and said
they should be prosecuted.

Hutu militias slaughtered minority Tutsis and politically moderate Hutus.

The report threatened to further mar relations between the two countries, which
severed diplomatic ties in November 2006.

France has refused to comment on the report and had previously
denied any involvement. France has acknowledged making mistakes in
Rwanda but denies any responsibility for the killing spree.

The French foreign ministry told the BBC it would only respond to
the fresh allegations after reading the report, which was released on
Tuesday afternoon.

Rwandan Justice Minister Tharcisse Karugarama, presenting the
500-page report in Kigali, said: French forces directly assassinated
Tutsis and Hutus accused of hiding Tutsis... French forces committed
several rapes on Tutsi women.

Karugarama said his country had no immediate plans to issue
indictments, but the report could be the basis for potential charges
against individuals or the state.

He added that it took more than two years for a special commission assigned
with probing France's involvement in the genocide.

The report further said that France was aware of the preparations
for the genocide, contributed to planning the massacres and actively
took part in the killing.

Elsewhere the statement said that considering the seriousness of
the alleged crimes, the Rwandan government has urged the relevant
authorities to bring the accused French politicians and military
officials to justice.

Center Imams to stop forbidding prayer at, and? ¦ start permitting equal
access to, worship in Allah's
House of Worship,? ¦ in the same way it is permitted in Masjid Haram, The
Prophet's Mosque, and other masajids all over the world.
  With
tomorrow's Jummah, you have the opportunity for you to end, or extend,
according to your will, the Houston Masjid's continuing,? ¦ decades long
practices, of dictatorial punishment, banishment and oppression of the
  worship of Allah.

It would be a Mercy for you to relieve the ummah, of the? ¦ unnecessary
  burdens of these practices.

The Commands of Allah in the Holy Quran are clear, the? ¦ choice of whose
path you choose to follow is yours.? ¦ I pray for Allah to Guide you on the
Right Path.

  ? ¦
  Sura
96 6-19? ¦ Nay!? ¦ Indeed, man transgresses all bounds, considers himself
to be self-sufficient, although, surely towards your Rabb is his
return.? ¦ Have you seen the one who forbids Our
servant from offering Salah (prayer)?? ¦ Have you considered, if he was
on right guidance, or was enjoining true piety, why he would forbid
someone from prayer?? ¦ Have you considered, if he denies
the truth and turns away, what will happen?? ¦ Does he not know that
Allah is observing all things?? ¦ Nay!? ¦ Let him know that if he does not
stop, we will drag him by the forelock, a lying, sinful forelock.? ¦ So
let him call his supporters for help, We too shall call the guards of
hell to deal with him.? ¦ Nay!? ¦ Do not obey him!? ¦ Prostrate yourself
and
bring yourself closer to your Rabb. ? ¦
Sura 2-217 ? ¦ They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month.
Say: Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver
is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to
deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its
members. Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter.

  Peace, Brother Curtis Sharif
