This inaugral lecture in memory of Abdullah Yusuf Ali is being held 55 years 
after his death on 10 December, 1953.
 
Organised by Islamic Book Trust, it is the first of its kind to commemorate the 
man who gave one of the most widely distributed works in the English-speaking 
world, The Meaning of the Holy Qur’an: Text, Translation and Commentary, first 
published in 1934.
 
The lecture will be delivered by Dr M A Sherif from the United Kingdom, author 
of Searching for Solace: A Biography of Abdullah Yusuf Ali.
 
A collection of various English translations of the Qur’an will be on display, 
as well as an exhibition on the life and times of Abdullah Yusuf Ali.
