I met this problem too.
I want to change the version of Gradle for building android to 2.10, but I 
can't find it.
So I write before_build hook to change 
`process.env['CORDOVA_ANDROID_GRADLE_DISTRIBUTION_URL']`, but it doesn't work 
for `run` command.

@daserge I haven't forgotten! The issue is that some changes were recently 
made to the server configuration and the README appears to be out of date. I'm

The issue is due to a bug in insight:

Insight is bugging because of: https://github.com/nodejs/node/issues/3006

The gist of the issue is that the process is not recognized to be running as 
TTY, which leads to insight ending the process and opting out: 

Furthermore, commenting the TTY related code out from insight, leads to yet 
another error: https://github.com/SBoudrias/Inquirer.js/issues/290

Insight, which we depend on doesn't play well with git-bash/MinGW.

Should the default be 50? I believe the intent was that it will use lesser 
memory and hence, default of 50 is a good thing - but I did some profiling and 
setting the quality to anything but 100 on Android actually causes more memory 
consumption because the image has to be loaded as a bitmap and re-compressed. 
Setting appropriate target height & width along with FILE_URI is the correct 
way to reduce the memory requirements. I propose that the default be changed to 
100.

config.xml loading path is wrong: at the moment is '/config.xml' but it always 
fail with cordova serve command causing some plugins not to work.

Shouldn't it be './config.xml' or '../config.xml' instead?

In platform browser, Splashscreen plugin could use css background image instead 
of img child for displaying image, resulting in less distortion.
Moreover, zIndex should have higher values or it gets overlapped by other 
elements (this is true also with current img implementation).

My suggestion is adding some properties to the div style such as:

z-index: ;
background-image: url();
background-size: contain;

And removing the img child which would become useless.

Just edit src/browser/SplashScreenProxy.js at SplashScreen.show method (about 
line 68):

localSplash.style.zIndex = ;
localSplash.style.backgroundImage = 'url(' + imgSrc + ')';
localSplash.style.backgroundSize = 'contain';

This is an issue because when calling `npm` from within a build script, this 
very old verison of `npm` installed by cordova-lib is the one that it called, 
because npm3 has flattened it in the tree. This causes a host of problems from 
installing private scoped cordova packages, or if you have a build script that 
runs npm scripts or commands in anyway that has since changed between 2 and 3 
(of which there are many changes).

The npm dependency should be removed.
