   I was using build.phonegap.com and I think that was the problem. I started 
using the cordova command line in my computer with the updated Android SDK and 
it worked perfectly.

Sorry to be unclear.  Opening, closing, and reopening the IAB multiple times.  
In our testing it occurs on use 2 or more of the IAB (sometimes 5-10 times 
before the issue shows up).  The Galaxy S7 seems to trigger this sooner than 
other devices.

This issue is not fixed.  The same intermittent behavior still exists with this 
fix.  The first time navigating in the InAppBrowser on Android the focus works 
but after opening multiple times the same issue exists.

Any update or workarounds for this?  This bug is still present, and effectively 
makes InAppBrowser unusable under Android.  We can't be expected to tell our 
application users to tap the address bar if they can't type in input fields.

I had exactly the same problem and clearFocus() prior to requestFocus() did the 
trick for me as well. Thanks a lot. This hint really made my day (and my 
customer happy...).

I was having a problem quite like the one described. The first time I opened an 
InAppBrowser, the text fields would always work. But if I closed and then 
reopened, eventually (1 to several times later) the text input fields would not 
show a caret and I could not type anything, even though the keyboard appeared, 
suggestions would work and I could copy and paste. It was driving my quite mad. 
 I finally noticed that if I had the location bar enabled and touched it, then 
touched a text edit, I would get the caret. This led me to try many different 
things with changes in establishing focus. Right or wrong, the combination I 
found that finally gave me consistent behavior was to change onPageFinished to 
add calls to clear and request focus like this:

public void onPageFinished(WebView view, String url) {
super.onPageFinished(view, url);
view.clearFocus();
view.requestFocus();
{code}

Once I made this change, touching the text fields always produced a caret.

cordova-android@5.2.1.
