My reading of this is that users of 0.94.x should upgrade to 0.98.x, i.e. that 0.94.x is no longer in active development. If that is an incorrect reading, please clarify the README. In any case, there should be at most one release of 0.94 and 0.98. Anything that is stored under https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/hbase/ will be synched to the ASF mirror masters and thence to the external mirrors Note: There is also a corresponding staging repo area at https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/hbase/ which can be used for release candidates. If the RC vote passes, just rename the files to the release area. Saves having to move the files around as much, and provides traceability back to the VOTE e-mail. By that time, the mirrors should have caught up (and the download page will have been updated) so it should be safe to delete any superseded release.
