Sean Busbey commented on HBASE-21178:
-

Can we get a release note for this please? It's fixing a critical shortfall
that users upgrading to 2.y need to be aware of.

I've also filed HBASE-21605 for a related documentation change so that folks
considering upgrade can be made aware.

[~yuzhih...@gmail.com], I will try to make some difference but as [~stack]

You tried it [~subrat.mishra] ? It works for you? If so, +1.

On the ruby-lint, if you can make a difference, good, but you might not be able
too... and thats fine too. Thanks.

{quote}Is it possible that one of converter_class / converter_method is null ?

In that case the conversion should be skipped, right ?
{quote}
[~yuzhih...@gmail.com], I think converter_class / converter_method won't be
null in this particular case as null check has already taken care before in
"convert" method. Just added as a defensive check and tried to keep it similar
to

convert_bytes_with_position method.
{quote}Also, is it possible to add a test with conversion to prevent regression
?
{quote}
Is it fine to add the same example of "org.apache.hadoop.hbase.util.Bytes.len"
(mentioned in description) as a test case under table_test.rb?

Is it possible that one of converter_class / converter_method is null ?

Also, is it possible to add a test with conversion to prevent regression ?

Thanks for the finding.
