[jira] [Created] (IMPALA-7768) Add test for thrift profile compatibility

2018-10-25 Thread Joe McDonnell (JIRA)
Joe McDonnell created IMPALA-7768:
-

Summary: Add test for thrift profile compatibility
 Key: IMPALA-7768
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-7768
 Project: IMPALA
  Issue Type: Improvement
  Components: Infrastructure
Affects Versions: Impala 3.1.0
Reporter: Joe McDonnell

There are a variety of tools that consume the thrift runtime profile. As we
make improvements, it is useful to be able to maintain compatibility with these
tools and verify that we don't unintentionally break existing tools.

We should add a test that accesses the thrift runtime profile and accesses
various common pieces of useful information. For example, start time, end time,
rows produced, and a variety of others are commonly used by these tools and
should remain accessible in the current way until we break compatibility.
