I understand why it is not in :) 

Is there anything more we can do to help get this fix applied? Seeing the 
relative easy fix I don't understand why it is not picked up?

The behaviour of maven was always like this; I can understand the desire to 
have a regression test and doc update but should the behaviour not be fixed 
asap?

I just saw the maven 3.5.4 release (great!) which did not mention this issue.
