[jira] [Created] (MESOS-10185) Release Mesos binaries for ARM64

2020-09-07 Thread odidev (Jira)
odidev created MESOS-10185:
--

Summary: Release Mesos binaries for ARM64
 Key: MESOS-10185
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MESOS-10185
 Project: Mesos
  Issue Type: Improvement
Reporter: odidev

As Mesos already has AArch64 support in the native code, it would be helpful if
Mesos ARM64 binaries become available to install via apt-get and RPM.

odidev commented on MESOS-10185:

Hi Team,

I am working in a package: paaSTA, which is using ‘mesos’. For the AMD64
machine, I am installing mesos via apt-get, following this documentation
<[https://subscription.packtpub.com/book/big_data_and_business_intelligence/9781785884627/1/ch01lvl1sec10/installing-mesos-on-ubuntu-16-04-from-packages]>
and has successfully installed mesos on the AMD64 machine. However, for ARM64,
the following error shows up :

“N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-arm64/Packages' as
repository 'http://repos.mesosphere.io/ubuntu xenial InRelease' doesn't support
architecture 'arm64'"

I have deduced that aarch64 mesos binaries are not available in the mesosphere
repository mentioned in the error message above. Also, the ARM64 mesos RPM is
not available at bintray.com and is available only for x86_64
.

It will be very helpful if you can release mesos for ARM64 as well.

Do you have any plans for the same? Please share your opinion on this.

Regards

ODIDEV
