[Issue 128067] New: spelling checker has no language default in GUI, although languages have been set
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=128067 Issue ID: 128067 Issue Type: DEFECT Summary: spelling checker has no language default in GUI, although languages have been set Product: Writer Version: 4.1.6 Hardware: All OS: Windows 10 Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: Major Priority: P5 (lowest) Component: ui Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org Reporter: d...@scientific-services.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 86654 --> https://bz.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=86654=edit screen shot, when pushing ok both (!!) popups close. Installed Openoffice 4.1.6 on a brand new HP Laptop with Win 10 all updates installed. When trying to check spelling (see attached screen shot) after explicitely setting langauges in the settings, it shows no langauge, on clicking ok both (!) popups close, so I can't fix it via GUI. My old 4.1.1 installation on another box worked fine, so I deinstalled 4.1.6 and installed 4.1.1, same problem! Found out deinstallation leaves Appdata\Roaming\OpenOffice around and lots of registry entries. Deleted Appdata\Roaming dir manually, but did not dare to remove all "OpenOffice" regsitry entries manually. Then I installed 4.1.1 again. Problem is still there! Is it caused by a registry entry ? Any hint for possible workaround appreciated !!! I found an old bugreport about the same problem, which claimed specifically, that it happens only when file opened via explorer, had added 2 commenst there, but now I decided to create a new entry. In my case it happends no matter how the GUI is invoked. (since my screen shot is from the German version: I also tried 4.1.6 US, same problem !) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the issue.
[Issue 120610] Documents created from Windows shell context menu have language set to NONE, causing spell checking to fail
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=120610 --- Comment #21 from Dietmar Hildebrand --- Dear developers, the deinstallation not only leaves entries in the registry, it also leaves the complete AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice behind. No wonder that it does not matter which release I try, the bug remains ! As I mentioned before I tried exercising different code pathes and had set my languiage to German(Austria) and was very surprised to find that after deinstallation/system restart/ installation still present. So I looked around for the stuff that was not cleaned up properly. I deleted the AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice directories of all users, but did not dare to manually delete all registry entries. The I installed 4.1.1, which works just fine on my other Laptop. BUT the bug is still there. Now I need your HELP !!! Any workaround or manual registry modification or whatever... regards, Dietmar Hildebrand -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the issue. [Issue 120610] Documents created from Windows shell context menu have language set to NONE, causing spell checking to fail
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=120610 Dietmar Hildebrand changed: What|Removed |Added CC||d...@scientific-services.com --- Comment #20 from Dietmar Hildebrand --- With the new release this bug has resurfaced! I installed 4.1.6 and spelling checker language is set to blank. It prompts with a popup in tzhze popup to ask, if it should start from the beginning, no matter if the answer is yes or no, it closes all popups extras / spelling The bug is not only present, when opening the file via explorer, it is always there. As a hint where it could be caused: when I uninstalled the new version and returned to 4.1.1 The bug was still there! Is it a registry entry (?) or something else, which survived deinstallation /new installation without system restart? In settings/ languages /linguistic (I use the German version, so apologize, if the backtranslated labels are not precise) the section 'options' is greyed out. Manually making changes to various languages related setting hoping through some codepath it would repair itself did not succeed. regards, Dietmar Hildebrand -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the issue.
