   To clarify the set in my comment above was the original PR. It has to 
exclude ?# to not break other dbs. Maybe only & for now?

   Thanks for weighing in. Maybe we will need to factor the char set into a 
deployment configuration... The set expansion that was proposed first by the pr 
 "&%!?=#-" already includes ? for example.  We could reduce this set, or factor 
it out (and expand it by default).
