The Strategic Business Intelligence Consultant is responsible for representing the Information Management and Development group in projects relating to data repositories and report generation across all lines of business. He/she will be involved in discussions regarding modifications existing environments and the establishment of new systems. Prior experience in analysis tools to query data repositories and/or generate reports is required to enable working with 3rd party vendors and other in-house IT groups. Responsibilities will include translating business requirements into an actionable reporting/data repository implementations. Such functions would include working alongside the other Information Management and Development subgroups during a project’s inception to help ensure the physical design meets the functional and performance requirements of the end-user application. He/she will leverage major information architecture platforms and the experience of the Information Management Development group to apply the best alternatives for a reporting/data repository solution. By maintaining current awareness of strategic reporting and information platforms in the marketplace and at Commerce, he/she will identify capabilities and features of each project solution and translate those through documentation and communication with the Information Management Development group as well as the rest of Information Technology. In general, he/she should be comfortable discussing information architecture concepts, disciplines and practices as they relate to reporting and data repositories. He/she will help to define and promote best practices on information architecture and reporting management.
