RE: JDK 1.1.5 does not work under XFree86 3.3.1

Would the JDK 1.1.5 you mentioned happen to be 1.1.5v6? I've had problems with
that one myself. Whenever I ran AWT apps (which includes Swing), nothing would
happen, or on rare occasions the thing would start, but crash in the next 10
seconds as soon as I did something to the GUI...

In any case, I didn't have the same problem with 1.1.5v7. But why not get the
latest? 1.1.6v2.

Update: Beautifier 1.0.2 - A Code-Beutifier for the FreeBuilder project

1998-08-01 Thread Tal Davidson

Hi!

In reply to user's letters, I have posted an updated version
of Beautifier (1.0.2) which fixes all the current known
bugs and adds indenting options for comments.
Anyone currently using Beautifier for automatic java source
code re-indentation can update
his copy at http://www.bigfoot.com/~davidsont/beautifier

I received a few letters wishing for
Beautifier to have the ability to FULLY reformat java files
to the 'Java Code
Conventions'. In reply, I have started my work on such a full formatter, with
intent
to make it as small and fast as possible while remaining pure
java.
BUT, to succeed I can really use beta testers. If anyone is
interested in taking part as a
beta tester (i.e. running the formatter on his code and
e-mailing me on bugs as well as how HE/SHE
would like the result to be differenent...), then please
e-mail me.

Enjoy!

Setting and Getting SystemColors

1998-08-01 Thread Armen Yampolsky

Hi, I've been searching high and low for information on setting, through
X or window manager resources, the various desktop colors that are
reflected by the SystemColor class. I use fvwm2 and have set menu and
window colors, but Java apps don't get it -- they see menus and controls
in blue, and the desktop in green. (BTW, I have found that on Solaris
with CDE, Java correctly sees user color preferences as set by CDE's
little GUI control panel.)

Has anyone been successful in getting the VM aware of users' window
manager color preferences?

I am using RedHat 5.0 with Steve Byrne's JDK1.1.6v2.

TIA,
-Armen
